Confused about how much fat to consume
I am very confused about quantities, particularly how many grams of fat I should have in the day.
Basically at the moment I am trying to keep within the following limits;
Protein 80-100g
Fat 50g max
Carbs 20-40g
Calories 800-1000, try for the latter but sometimes that is hard. I am drinking about 3 litres of water a day.
So, I would really appreciate you giving me your daily limits, so I can compare and contrast. Or maybe reference to any good online articles.
Thanks in advance.

There are a couple of ways to look at it. Many people who count aim for 40% of calories from protein, 30% from fat and 30% from carbs (and remember that a g of fat has more calories). Some people don't count fat - they just make sure protein is high and carbs are low. I am more along these lines, but I try to keep my fat in the 40-60g range at 1200-1400cal per day. When I am logging food, which I'd been lax on lately but am trying to get back to, I also look at fat as a weekly average and just make sure for the week that its about 50. Some people go very low fat (I've seen as low a goal as 25g), I do not as it interferes with my bowel movements and also makes my skin unhappy. My personal line of thought is that as long as they are good fats and I'm not going overboard I'm ok. Animal saturated fats are a no-no as much as possible. I get some fats from cheese and milk and yogurt, but I try to get them more from avocado, olive oil, fish oil, flax, grapeseed oil, canola oil, fresh (not cooked salted) nuts, etc. I use skim milk most of the time but whole milk once in a while because its a treat, I use full fat cheeses but part skim or low fat/fat free yogurts, cottage cheese, sour cream, cream cheese, etc.
Your plan right now looks balanced to me, and is similar to what mine was for the first 8 months or so.

Thanks for that, it is amazing the variances.
