New Dumping

Ok, so I have dumped once before on a taco.  The other night at work, dumped again.  Now I am really careful what I eat at work, because dumping is just not condusive to my schedule of taking care of patients.  I ate 1 oz of honey nut cheerios (which I have had before), and 1 mini box of raisins (which I have had before).  Unfortunately I have never had the 2 together....and I never will.  Not sure if my pouch just didn't like the cheerios again, or perhaps the combination of the 2, but I sure did have the cramps and diarrhea!!!!!.   I really hate feeling like that, luckily it passed quickly, and I let my pouch rest for quite a few hours after that.

I guess I will be more careful with new "combination" foods in the future!!

Thanks for letting me rant

Sorry about the dumping... maybe your pouch just didn't like that both items had so much sugar in them.  One was accecptable but the 2 was toooo much.
I dump on fats so far - not sugar yetttt.
Good luck.

That sounds like too much sugar - I would definitely dump on that combo. I don't even have to guess there, I have no doubt. Raisins are a bad one for me, I stay away from them in all forms now after my last episode.

When doing combo foods I'd really recommend mixing it up so that you have a good combo of protein with your simple carbs, instead of 2 carbs together. Something I've found is that even when I don't dump, if I have a meal that is mostly carbs or at least higher in carbs than I normally go (grains, potatoes, rice, pasta, fruit) I will get wicked sleepy and detached from the world. If I have those things in combination with a good protein source its much better. So with your raisins have a string cheese or with your cheerios have some yogurt (low sugar yogurt) - that kind of idea.

I dumped on some home made tortilla chips last night. I shouldn't have had them at all but if I'd had some beans or meat or cheese with them I probably wouldn't have dumped. Having them alone did me in.  Honestly now I am thankful that I dump. It was hard to get the hang of eating at first and not knowing what was going to get you, but now that I know it definitely helps me stay on track and when I don't stay on track my pouch definitely reminds me!

Good luck!

I know what you mean. Combination foods can make me sick and/or dump for some reason. I was just explaining that to my mom last night. I was eating dinner and thought about having two things, but then stopped myself because it never works out for me. I have to eat one or the other. I know that sounds crazy, but it's true. I can get away with combo'ing some things, but for the most part I stay away from doing that.

Speaking of dumping - I have dumped on two things since my surgery and I will never, ever eat either of them again. One was when I was shopping with my mom and we stopped at Chipotle. I got a Burrito Bol and they put the rice on it before I could stop them. I ate a few bites and then when we were in the Galleria I got so sick. When I dump I get extremely cross and pissed off. I can't even explain how my personality changes. I don't have cramps or diarrhea, it affects my levels and makes me feel like I'm about to die. Literally.

After that I will never put another morsel of rice in my mouth, I can assure you.

The second one was a few weekends ago - again, I was shopping with my mom. (Can you see a pattern here? It's impossible to go all day without eating and it's impossible to plan a lot when you're going to be gone all day shopping. And of course, the food available to you is not what you can eat, so I end up trying stuff. Ugh) Anyway - I got some no sugar added frozen yogurt. Mother of all that is holy. It was terrible. I was a complete basketcase. Again - I got extremely cross and pissed and I had to go to the car and lay down. And I guess it goes without saying that I will never touch frozen yogurt again either.

Dumping is just no fun. I almost force myself to eat the things I know won't make me dump because I dread that feeling so bad. However, like you all know, sometimes you dump on things that you've had before or didn't expect. I've dumped on a few other things, I think, but these two episodes were the absolute worst.
