This board seriously freakin rocks!!!!!  Where have you been all my life hahahaha.

Hello, I'm Dondra.  I was hanging out on the DS board, but no one really gets it....they all started at less than 300 most of them anyways.  I'm a heavy weight.  I am at 540lbs right now, I'm 5'10" and very pre op.  I am opting for the DS and the surgeon I want does it in 2 stages for high BMI's...so I will have a sleeve for about a year and then he will do the DS part of it. So it is like WLS with a revision only to have one op, lol, but owell...as long as it gets the weight moving.

I live in the UK and here dr's work a bit differently.  I am American but I married and UK "bloke" lol.  I have lived here 2 years now and am slowly getting used to it.  It is a very harsh culture...they HATE HATE HATE fat way worse than any place in the USA.  It's so weird to be treated so bad.  But like I said, I'm getting used to it.

Um....I leave that with you guys:)  I'm sure I will be participating more around these parts.  You guys are MY people:)

Welcome Dondra!! You will find these boards very encouraging and very informational. Just take in the good and what applies to you and overlook the rest. I also post and read the Main Boards.

Welcome and good luck with your journey!

Where do you live in England?  When I was younger my dad was in the Air Force and we lived off base in Ipswich, England.  I LOVED it there.  We had a house kind of out in the country and attended the English schools.  One year my dad taped us at Christmas and all of us kids (there are 5 of us) had British accents.  My dad was then stationed in Spain and when we attended the American school our classmates didn't believe that we were American because we sounded British.

I would love to go back one day and visit.  (However, I would have to take my Mom because I was too little to be able to remember how to get anywhere.)  I remember we used to go to a local bookstore and always looked forward to that.  There was a grandmotherly lady that lived up the road from us and she would give us "sweets".  I think she also taught me how to crochet which I still do to this day.

Anyway - sorry for going off topic - but it just brought back some great memories!

Welcome and keep us updated on your journey.

Hi Dondra, welcome to the board.  It is a little different for us heavy weights, but this is such an exciting journey.  I had the VSG and hang out of that board and this one.  Everyone is so friendly on both boards.

You'll enjoy it around here.

Welcome to the board! You might also want to check out the VSG board for help once you get to that point. I was suppose to have the DS as well, but due to some internal issues ended up with the VSG. So far, I am doing pretty good with it.
