I feel like I am failing already

I had surgery on the 19th of this month and have only lost 14lbs so far. I am eating 4oz of food per meal and am intaking about 600 calories a day. Everyone else I have spoke w/ is barely eating 2 oz and they are months out. I am starting to feel that this is going to fail like everything else I have tried. I mean if it wasn’t going to fail then why does it seem like my experience is so different from everyone else’s..

I’m sorry to sound all negative it’s just how i’m feeling

Be patient...  take your time eating, and make sure you are measuring.  Your guts are still healing and you might not feel when you are full.  If you follow your directions, you will lose the weight.  It is not uncommon to be in a stall by your first month.  You may also have gained some weight right after the surgery from all the IV fluids.

Sending good vibes your way...

Everyone is different. You will feel
different when you see a bigger difference on the scale. It will happen. Just make sure you
always eat protein FIRST, measure...sip...sip...sip and take those vites! It will work out fine if you stick to the rules. Work that tool!

Start: 487 lbs (8/07) Lost 81 lbs pre op on South Beach. 406 lbs at surgery (6/08). 179 post op, by 2011. I  lost 308 lbs. Gained 98 while pregnant (2012-13) lost all but 25. My goal is to be 179 again!

I also had surgery on the 19th of December, and my weight has been fluctuating alot since surgery.  The nurses told me about the IV fluids, and also that your body tends to hold onto some water while healing.  Also throwing a wrench into my recovery is HORRIBLE Night sweats.  I have endometriosis and PCOS, so my docs induced menospause when I was 22.  Let me tell you, these night sweats are so much worse, they are dehydrating me.

I have been feeling very frustrated myself the last couple of days and wondering what the heck i did.  I am in the soft foods phase, and want so bad to chew on something besides an egg, I hate cottage cheese (if you have any way to make it taste good, please let me know), and am generally feeling trapped by the diet right now.  My food volume is about 1/2 cup and I have a hard time telling when i am full, and/or if my hunger is real or emotional.  The latter most likely.

Sorry I am so longwinded, but I am there with you.  I am hoping that I did the right thing and that I will make it through this rough patch.

Good luck, and I will be thinking of you!!

I know it doesnt seem like it right now but you will start losing more and you will make it through the different stages of the diet. You have taken the worlds best first step by taking contol of your weight issues. We have all felt the way you do and still have our bad days and moments. We have been given a greta tool that we can and will rock to the best of our ability, but we are still very much human and make off choices as well as have days when we want to give up. Stay strong you will do great!
