Here I am

Hi all.  I've calculated my BMI (I don't remember ever doing that before) and here I am at a 63.6.  Monday I start a new program and I'm starting to take a deep breath and feeling more ready to feel ready.  One of the things I've decided I need is the honest empathic support of others.  I'm hoping to meet some of you here and develop some supportive friendships.  One thing I'm requiring of myself is to take this seriously and not joke at my own expense or treat my efforts as if they're trivial.  It feels foreign right now not to be dismissive....like I had to just backspace over starting to type "for now I'm going to try that..." with a reminder to be positive/optimistic.  So -- wish me luck.  Here I am.  Thank you, Becky

Hi Becky,

I too started with a BMI in the 60's.  I am no down to 38.5 an I am not done yet.  You can do this!!!  This forum is great for support and encouragement that we all need.  You have made the first step to getting healthier for yourself.  Are you looking into WLS of a specific kind?  Have you been to any beginners seminars yet?  Feel free to ask me any questions, I am will to share the good, the bad, and the ugly!!!

Happy New Year

Caroline

Hi Caroline, and thanks for responding.  No, I haven't yet decided if I want to look into surgery or not.  I'm back to trying on my own but each time it seems to get harder to muster up the positive thoughts and motivation.  In the past I've gained even more weight each time I drop the diet.  I can't seem to feel optimisitic enough this time around.  I've started going to OA and am thinking that will help for now.  Congrats to your success.  Have you had any complications? Take Care, Becky :)

Hi again

I had a minor complication just after surgery.  My drain site was slightly infected, but cleared up very quickly with a short course of antibiotics.  No other real complications.  I had some nausea issues during the first few weeks, but that is gone as well.

Good luck in whatever you choose to do..   Keep coming here for support and encouragment!!

Hi Caroline.  Thank you for sharing that, I'm always wondering.  I've seen some bad stories on news shows and it scares me.  Glad to hear that it's going well for you! Becky :)
