I survived Mardi Gras!

So on Sunday morning as I was packing my pre WLS voice showed up.  It started saying, 'big girl do you really think you are ready for this? do you really think you can do all that walking?'  The anxiety was brief but it just goes to show how that stinking thinking can sneak up on you when you least expect it.
Well I am proud to tell that voice that YEP - I made it.  I stood for hours.  I walked for miles.  I toted heavy luggage through the streets of NOLA and while I wasn't the leader of the pack, I was able to keep up with all my friends.

Now about the festivities!  It was a blast.  I love Mardi Gras and being in the heart of the celebrations was just too fun.  There are no words for the sights.  I love New Orleans night life, but at Mardi Gras steps it up a level.  We were on Bourbon Street from noonish until midnight.  That's a whole lot of dancing and a whole lot of walking.  I sure hope my scale reflects the level of activity I had the past three days!

Jealous, jealous, jealous!  We got off the plane, went to whole foods, and seriously considered going to the Bacchus parade.  We went on 10 instead of 610 and then BAM...TRAFFIC.  That cured it right then.

However, we have decided to go next year and fly Kris in to enjoy it with us.  I know it's a crazy scene, but I'd love to see it.  I hate crowded, crowded streets though.

Clinell, isn't it so awesome the freedom that this surgery has afforded us?  I wrote a blog post about it when I got back from Hollywood.  I am in awe of myself and what I can do now.

You have to be hard core with a lot of patience to survive Mardi Gras, but if you feel you can pull off the two - then go for it!  Mardi Gras ROCKS!!!

I love my weight loss surgery.  I said several times this weekend and I meant it...if I could get rid of big ol' belly I wouldn't have a to lose another pound and still be 100% satisfied with my size!!!!  It is unfortunate that when I look in the mirror all I can see is that pannis hanging but is it awesome that I can do more physically that I have ever been able to do in all of my adult life.

Sounds like you had a great time!!!  Good for you for having the courage to go, and being able to keep up!!!

I know what you mean about seeing the pannis hanging... I have been thinking about that a lot lately too!!!  If I could just get that to flatten out a little more I would be so happy, I sorta feel like I have too lumps on my abdomen, a lower one that is hanging and a muffin top that won't go away.

Ahh the muffin top! My pannus is actually great, I can't complain, but the muffin top sticks out way farther than the pannus and I absolutely cannot disguise it unless I pull out the industrial strength undergarments.

I don't have much of a muffin top, but the pannis is thick and goes halfway down my thighs.  I can't imagine what size pants I would be in if I didn't have to accommodate that big ol' belly!
