Hi, I'm just home from surgery (Tuesday) and doing well, but one quick question.. since I'm only on clear liquids should not having any bowel movements now be normal?  I've peed often, but nothing else since pre-op.  I have to call the dr office tomorrow anyways, so I'll be asking, but I was here posting my blog just now, so thought I'd pick yer brains!  :o)

Thanks

I think everyone is different. I had a bowel movement right after the upper GI the morning after surgery. I had Lap and the barium they gave me gave me horrible diarrhea. But once that past and I was home I didnt have BM for a few days. Im sure you are normal. Best of luck to you. And congrats on your new life!

It was a few days post op before I had my first BM. I would ask your doctor when they xpect your first one to be and when to be concerned if you havent had one.

Congrats and welcome to the bench!

BM's took me awhile and hurt like hell!

I actually cried when I'd even think I had to go. Finally called the DR and he told me to take over the counter Senakot.

Thanks, everyone.  Your answers agree with my doctor's office today.  They said if I don't have one by Sunday or so, to just take 4 tlb of milk of magnesia.  Which, I found out during the day before surgery works realllllly well, lol.  I don't think I've ever been so empty in my life!
