Well, here we are, a few days away from the first major food holiday some of us really have to deal with postop. (I was still on liquids at Easter and Halloween is candy, candy, candy -- not the evilness of mashed taters w/ gravy or horror of horrors -- stuffing.)

Ya know what: we're all gonna do okay!

Personally, I'm not going to have my annual Thanksgiving freakout this year. Two reasons: 1) my little brother will be at my house for all of 8 hours total for the entire weekend and 2) I don't have to get everything coordinated to be hot and yummy all at the same time. I may cook a lot of it ahead of time, but my lovely sisters are getting it on the table.

This is my first Thanksgiving that I will not be eating a helping of stove top with a bunch of gravy all over my plate of food. Thank God I am not cooking this year. It has been hard to get my mom to understand that it is okay to go ahead and cook what she usually does for everyone I will be fine. She feels bad making any desserts.

I found a recipe for me to have somehting semi sweet : Fat Free Ricotta Cheese, 1 tsp vanilla, 2 pks splenda. If you freeze it they say it tastes like ice cream.

Good luck to everyone this week!!

Hi everyone,

This is also my first Thanksgiving postop.  I think I will be okay though.  Several years ago I was actually on a liquid diet on Thanksgiving, now that was super hard.

I'm not sure what all I'm going to eat on Thanksgiving yet.

Ok so heres why i love my RNY......This was my first ThanksGiving since surgery... as well.. its just me an hubby but i cook enough for a huge family.... just how i learned to cook..  so i cooked all day yesterday.. so we have goodies to nibble on all week.. an can just relax on the holiday itsself..  so i figured i wanted a lil bite of everything... homemade dressing/stuffing, turkey, giblet gravy, itallian greenbeans, sweet potatoes(made mine just like a baked potato, lil cinamin  n nutmeg..) his traditionally brown surgar marshmellows etc... any how after cooking all day an eating my regular breakfast cottage cheese n fruit.. then some cheese an boiled egg for lunch... i thought. to myself.. well i can really sit down an have a plate of food.. mind u my plates are sectional toddler plates now but still thought ahhhhhhhhh a reall dinner... so i followed.. rules... nearly to a T... protein first....... an lil taste of other stuff.. there was like  1 & 1/4 cup of food on my plate.. but.......... honestly...... i ate maybe 3/4 of a cup an that was mostly turkey an gravy.. an was DONE.......... 100% satisfied...  AMAZING!  Did i say i  LOVEEEEEE my RNY!!    its the first holiday i didnt feel like i was on a diet.. or that i had to starve to get through it...

I'm down 120 pounds - thanks to RNY!  Working on the next 25.  Then I'll tackle more...

My surgeon said to expect about a pound a day. Where is my pound a day?!?!?

Start - 322
Last week - 291.4
This week - 290.5

At this rate I will be at goal by my 75th birthday.

I'm hoping this is because of the turkey jerky that I discovered. 15g of protein for 1oz for only 80 cals but a whopping 700mg of sodium per serving. I had one serving on the drive down from Nor Cal to spend the holiday with my family.

I'm doing everything else pretty much by the book. Meeting my protein goals, my fluid goals, getting all my vits in, tracking EVERYTHING. I have been a slacker in the exercise dept, didn't walk for like 4 days in a row but I hiked for an hour yesterday with plans to do it again today.

It's a bit frustrating. I know that I didn't build my big body in a day but I've had better loss with Weigh****chers. I'm hoping this is just because I'm retaining water or perhaps constipated. I would HATE to think that this will be my rate of weight loss for this entire journey.

Thanks for listening to my whine. I'm done now.

A wise woman once said "You have to remember its only a tool....You still have to do the work....The difference is that you have a big shovel instead of a spoon to do it with."
