Just starting with elminating the carbs is a start.   You can definitely do this.   One pound at a time and you'll get that 22# off.

And may I say...as if I haven't said enough...lol you're closer to my goal (200lb) than i am and i am almost 2 years out!!!! lost over 300lb and i'm still FAT! LOL

i can say that and really laugh...because the number doesn't mean as much as the life i've gained. I do want to get to my goal and hoping maybe by may when my son graduates from college that I have made it there, but in the meantime...I'm just sooo thankful I have lost 3 small people and i refuse to EVER see them again LOL

Just wanted to add a little levity because after all...we should be CELEBRATING!!!!

You can SOOOO do this! You're doing the right things, dropping those carbs and upping your exercise routine. Swimming is excellent- helped me a lot and cycling if you can do it can really help.
Good Luck!!!

STEP AWAY FROM THE KITCHEN!  Ok, I was trying to joke, a little, but seriously, don't sabotage ALL your WORK over one set back.  Come on, it is painful - I KNOW your pain - but, you can achieve the goal your surgeon set.  Have you considered writing him a letter?  Just tell him all you have achieved, what you WANT to achieve, and how much pain you are in.  Maybe, just maybe he could "split the difference" and give you a date if you continue to lose weight.

I have seen four different surgeons, and two specialists, and only in the last year did one actually explain why my weight was an issue -- it has to do with my over developed calf muscles - NOT that I was too fat to have the surgery - that I would rip the connection (tendon/muscle), and I only had a prognosis of 5% success.  All this time I thought it was they were afraid to put me under, I actually said, "Give me a local..." that is when the last surgeon took the time to fully explain why my weight was an issue -- you build a LOT of muscle carrying around all this weight.

Stay the course!  If you keep working toward your goal, you will achieve it!!!  Hang in there, Girlie!

Can you get a prescription for water-based physical therapy three times a week?  That should keep your out of pocket costs low and help you do water exercises that will assist in losing weight AND strengthening your knees.

Second opinion!

I had a knee replacement at a bit over 400.  It was tough.  Mostly, because I was so out of shape and hard to move around that it made it all the harder to recover.  I would NEVER have it at that weight again.

But 200 - 250, I would.  I'm at 278 now and feel SO much  better.  I had the surgery at 384 without a problem - and that was after I took 16 pounds off with the surgery office.

I wish you much good luck - it's a journey of steps.  Sometimes it's a journey of obstacles to overcome, but it's a journey - and a good one!

I'm down 120 pounds - thanks to RNY!  Working on the next 25.  Then I'll tackle more...

Get another DR!!!!!! Seriously. This one is obviously stuck on numbers and doesn't care about over all health.

Whilst looking for another DR, do take care of yourself and get back to basics. I know you can do anything you put your mind to. :)

Good luck!

I have recently been approved for WLS and will be having it done before the year ends. I have knee problems really bad, and am suffering a lot! My ortho. will be doing mine in the Spring. He's not waiting for a magical weight number. I would get another opinion from an ortho. doctor.

I think you said you work in the medical field.  So you of all people know that you are at a satisfactory weight to have knee replacement.  I bet when you have the surgery and go back to basics it will be much easier to get the 42 pounds off.  I would get a 2nd and 3rd opinion if necessary.

If you don't want to change doctors, then I would go with Tabby's advice.  She said it wonderfully.   Much success to you in whatever you decide!!

Congrats on 135 pound weight loss!! Awesome!!!
