Shelley: I am NOT the one to give advice on excersing, because I haven't started yet. I thought and still think I'm too big to excersise. I'm down 55 pounds in 8 weeks but I'm only down to 341. I still have a ways to go. I was going to concentrate on walking or water something once I hit 300. 41 more pounds to go. I just wanted to post that you did 6 minutes and you should feel great about that. Just take it slooowww and work yourself up. I'm kinda surprised your surgeon ok'd excersising so early for you. Take it easy.......baby steps!!!! Good luck and remember a little at a time. ~~Carmella Mom of 3 shih tzu's

Hi Shelley, I wouldn't be upset about that. I had a problem with my abdominal muscle after surgery and was unable to do much of anything for almost the first month after. Before surgery I was walking at least 30 minutes every day because I had 33# to lose before they would do surgery. It was very difficult to get back into it, even after my pain went away. I had to build back up to it slowly. Some days it was around the block, some days just down the street a ways. You'll get there. I am back to 30-45 minutes per day now. It takes time. Take Care, Tanja

Shelley, there is a proverb: The longest journey begins with a single step. You walked for six minutes and 11 seconds. Tomorrow, aim for seven minutes. Add 30 seconds each day, and you'll be walking for 30 minutes before you know it. I have NOT have WLS. I started this journey at 365 pounds, and I could not walk more than two blocks without getting excruciating back pain and short of breath. Now I spend two hours a day at the gym. Last weekend, I walked for hours at a street festival. Two years ago, I could not have imagined exercising this much. Probably six months from now, you'll be doing things you don't think are possible now. Best of luck. Kasey 365/220/195
