how long before you start noticing the weight coming off

I didn't really notice until my first 100 pounds came off. I had those drawstring type pants and keep pulling them up so that didn't help. One day I looked in the mirror and realize they were starting to look like clown pants. That's really when I realized... Amy

Earl, I had my surgery on May 23rd. I lost 20 lbs just prior to surgery and 40.5 since. I can't see it yet. My face looks thinner, but, I didn't lose 60 lbs in my face! I think I'll have to lose 100. Lori 384/323.5/170

Hello Earl ~ I lost a total of 235 pounds and am now at goal. The first 100 pounds didn't make a very big difference in overall clothes sizes or appearance. To say there were NO changes isn't accurate - things like rings fitting better, necklaces that actually went around my neck, even dropped a couple of dress sizes - started to fit in the theater seats, booths, etc. ....BUT, the 'dramatic' differences REALLY started showing up with the last 130 lbs. Even clothes sizes dropped faster, which doesnt make much sense. LOL, I mean, isn't a 100 lbs a 100 lbs? Not sure why, but the first 100, I only went down a couple of dress sizes, from a 6X to a 26/28 ...the next 100 lbs, from a 26/28 to a 10. Good luck to you on your journey - Lei

Lei, I'd guess that's because sizes like 6X and such are mostly made stretchy (since comfort is a big deal to us)... and the smaller sizes are made fashionable, so frequently they are of cloth that doesn't stretch much... Or at least that's all I could think of as to why... I'm actually looking forward to wearing something that's NOT a knit!

Hi Earl: I had surgery 5/23/05 and I have lost 55 pounds and I can't tell, unless I look at my pictures which I am keeping track of on my profile or if I put my clothes on. If I'm neekid or in my nightgown, I feel like I did the day before surgery. They say that it takes along time for you to relize the weight you've lost. And I've seen some profiles at goal and they say they still feel fat or see themselves fat. Good Luck to you!!! Carmella -55 pounds in 8 wks

Hi Earl, It all depends on your body. Now, I was 360lbs and now I am down to 346lbs and I noticed a change when I lost those 14lbs. THAT'S JUST ME...... I have lost 30lbs before and felt it in my body and saw it in my clothes. So you have to have the keen eye to see that you are losing. Some lose inches before pounds and this is what happens to me. My clothes will feel smaller but I have not lost any weight. And it depends on how much water weight you have. Hey, you are on the losing side now, don't worry and let your body do it's thing.. Take care..... Nissah The F.AT Slayer 360/346/???/180 24 days 2 go.......woohoo

Well I have lost 88 lbs and a lady a church told me you can finally tell. I have no idea what size I am because I am still wearing my 6x's that were tight and now are huge but I love having them hang on me. Sandyd

I remember being really pissed when I lost my first 60 - I felt depressed that I was still so big after having lost so much. Once it was an even 100, I could start to see it. My brain was about 3 months behind my body as far as being able to notice what I really looked like. Now that I've been at goal for 4.5 months I'm finally just now realizing just how far I've come. Its hard because with the hanging skin I have, it looks like the same shape as when I was SMO, just deflated. Wishing all the best, ~Lara -210@goal
