Anybody else?
Hi...
First off...I just want to say that I am really becoming attached to this board. I usually just lurk but I am learning bunches and really becoming quite fond of all of you.
I'm short and about as round as I am tall. I have diabetes and am trying to lose some weight before my date of September 12. My problem is I can't seem to get the scale to move. I am on an extremely lo carb diet (which my blood sugars love by the way) and I started walking every day 3 weeks ago (I'm up to 2.4 miles now). I am also on phentermine until my surgery. And this week the scale has gone back up a few pounds.
Does anybody else have these issues and have you had any success? I get so excited to see some weight come off and then so depressed when it starts to come back on. This really cements why I want to have this surgery. I should be able to come off most of my diabetes meds and then I think that will help with the losing.
I just feel frustrated and want to quit...so I was hoping somebody else had gone thru all this and could give me some encouragement. I appreciate you all.
Thanks,
Peggy

GOOD FOR YOU!!! Walking 2.4 miles. From where I'm sitting thats quite an accomplishment.

Also congrats on your WLS date!
I am pre-op also and it IS frustrating and it IS discouraging
.
I try not to get weighed because it does such a number on my head
. I just try to look at it as getting my liver healthy for surgery. If youre like me(and I know you are) you have played the "numbers" game your entire life. I refuse to do it now. I might just be living in denial
.........but my only goal is to not GAIN any weight before surgery. My doc will CANCEL if you gain.
I dont know if this addressed your original post....but I just wanted you to know that we are all in this together and what you are feeling is being felt by everyone else. Keep your eye on the prize!
Bridget...
Thanks so much for your encouragement! Sometimes I just need a reminder that everything will be ok...I think I'm just becoming so worried and impatient. Thanks for the reminder to keep my eye on the prize.
Make sure to let us know when things work out for you.

Hi Sandra...
Yep, I'm doing it all. Tons of water and tons of protein and I keep my total carb intake under 30 g a day. I'm sure my issues are directly related to my diabetes and the meds I take...so when the surgery is over, I should be off most of the meds. I really think that will solve this whole frustrating issue.
Thanks for your kind words.
Peggy
