Has anyone tried any kind of unflavored protein powder that you can mix into Crystal Light? I'm on a pre-op diet and the Chocolate Whey Protein mixed in water is making me sick as well as the Slim-Fast Low Carb and I love the Crystal Light Fruit Punch and can drink it all day so was wondering if anyone knew of a protein to mix in it that would be decent tasting. TIA Anita

Hi Anita, I'll add a third to the vote for UNJURY ... of all I've tried this is the best. I've used it in both hot and cold liquids with good success. It was the protein powder put into my hot broth during the first weeks post-op, and the chocolate in skim milk is just like chocolate milk and no bad aftertaste. I get it at www.unjury.com best wishes and blessings, Myra

Hi Anita, I use Optimum Nutrition's Any Whey unflavored protein. I usually mix it with light Minute Maid fruit drink (raspberry, mango, orange-tangerine flavors), and I like it that way. With the orange, it makes it taste a little like an orange dreamscicle. I have not tried unjury, but I know the kind I use is a lot cheaper - especially if you purchase at www. Atomicnutrition.com... depends on how much you have to spend. Tanja

This is only my opinion.... unflavored protein tastes JUST as horrible as some of the flavored ones. For me, I did not like the taste of the whey or soy.... Here are a few hints. First, find a good mix ( I used EAS protein from walmart).... second mix with extracts. A capful of banana extract made the choc. protein go down much easier. A little strawberry mixed in with the vanilla (and a drop of red food coloring) was tolerable...... You don't have to drink the stuff forever...infact around the time of your puree diet you can probably get enough in with food alone. Another good one (and the only one I will drink to this day) is made by NECTAR (syntrex) fuzzy navel flavor (with is a peach/orange).... rather than mixing it with water use crystal light orange sunrise.... I am telling you that you DO NOT taste the protein part of it.... I have heard that strawberry kiwi is good as well from the same company.... I thought about getting it and mixing it with strawberry kiwi propell instead of plain water.... be creative, you will get through it much easier that way. good luck on your surgery.
