Question???

I had similiar documentation when I submitted to the insurance company, plus several gym memberships. They denied me! They said it had to be 6 consecutive months from a doctor or it was no good! Even my doctor said that what they are asking for is ridiculous. But we have to give them what they WANT, or we don't get what we NEED! Huggs, Ruth

Georgeann, Im pre-op! I do have a date of August 23rd! Just over a week to go! My approval and everything else is already taken care of.. I dont have an angel, not sure how to get one either. Im pretty well prepared for surgery I think, other than this pre-op diet is harder then I thought it would be! As far as support, I get my motivation here, this site gets me up and moving on those days when I feel slugish and dont want to do anything.. And hearing from everyone here has shown me things that all the research on WLS doesnt say, so this board is a huge help to me! Amber

Hi Amber, 9 days away and "horse" to the hospital you go. I am so happy and excited for you. I'm also glad for whoever came up with the idea for this board. It is a blessing to me as well and I feel so at home here. Prayer and happy thought are happening for you on special day. Georgeann

Okay ... so all you're waiting for is a date? Every time I here that a person has gotten to this point in their journey I get so excited because I know what comes next. I wish I could see the facial expressions on the faces of people when they hear the words you're approved or your date for surgery is ... Congratulations to you Sandra. Please keep us posted. Georgeann, I am a pre-op with a surgery date of 9/13/05(woo-hoo)! I had 2 denials from my insurance(CIGNA-HMO). I took my appeals to the state insurance commisioner,who upheld the insurance company's denial.After over 2 years of trying to get approval(an exclusion was added to the policy beginning 1/05)...I am self paying. My health has gotten so bad,that it has come down to life or death situation, so we are financing the surgery. I do have an angel from my state board. I get so much support just reading the posts and profiles,it gives me such great hope for better health. My husband had the WLS 8/04 and has lost from 533lbs to 255lbs.,he is still an avid reader of OH posts. He says he will always read the boards,as it helps so much. I think the support and understanding we all give each other really helps with the journey. Hugs, Lori

Hi Georgeann I am pre-op and have had my consult with the surgeon. I'm waiting on insurance approval. After I get approval I guess I will get a date, but in the meantime the Dr wants me to lose 20lbs. so I've been working on that. Have a great day. Anita
