Viactive????????????
Does anyone take Viactive for their calcium supp.?? I have been sooooo bad at NOT taking my vitamins
I was at my PCP the other day and she let me try one and actually it tastes like a little choc. mint "treat"!!! So I went to Wally world bought the Viactive 500 +D+K. My question is should I take one or two a day. I'm almost 3mo out now.
I also bought Flintstones Chewable with iron, since I'm having diff. swallowing the adult vit. and cut it in half. Yucko!!! And I found the sublingual B-12's there too. I'm hoping this will kick start my energy since I don't have any at all since surgery. I just want to
So I should be good in the vitamin dept. for now!!!

Hi, I am only one week and two days out, and my doctor put me on two viactives a day. Hope it helps. Also they said don't do the multi-vitamins and the viactive at the same time, because the iron and the calcium fight. I guess to which one will go first I don't know. I just do what my surgeon says!!

I was told that our bodies absord calcium citrate (only) and that the viactive is calcium caltrate????? But your saying that your surgeons put you on this? my surgeon said NO (hummmm). Also, while at wally world (lol).... check out there kids version of a chewable vitamin (it is called ONE SOURCE - COMPLETE) it is half the cost and talks so much better (not as gaggy sweet). My surgeons nurse ( who had WLS) told me about it... I am so much happier with them (plus they are less to chew up. smaller in size). Has all the important vitamins that flinstones and rugrats do plus a few extra. One other thing, When I first started buying the chewables we had to bring the bottle into the dr office ( pre surgery check up) and I showed him that I bought the rugrats w/vitamin c (thinking that was a good thing)... he said the ONLY type of vitamin we should be getting is the box that says COMPLETE on them. I would double check with the doc you have the right thing before you start having deficiencies. Did you find the b-12 sublingual over hte counter at wal-mart? how much was that? There is SO much to know about vitamins and I thought I was somewhat knowledgeable before but now with surgery, so many of them are not absorbed the same way. I have tossed out adn returned many bottles in the past 3 months. The last vitamin obstacle I went through was looking for the RIGHT kind of iron....Later found out that Ferous glucanate is kept BEHIND the counter.... I can't tell you how frustrating that was looking for it , until my surgeons nurse told me where to look. I guess the otehr types of iro are not absorbed as well....Geeeeeeeezzzzzzz!
Sorry for such a long message, but I thought I would share what I was told. At the 3 month mark ( which I am in as well) you shouldn't be as drained of energy unless something is not working....Good lck, hope you feel better soon!
I use the Viactiv. The difference in absorption for the 2 types of calcium is really pretty minor, at least according to my surgeon. Anyway, I take at least 2 a day, sometimes more. Right now, I am taking the CVS version of Flinstones with iron as my vitamins. They are chewable and not TOO bad. I usually try to take them when I'm eating or drinking something to get the taste out of my mouth!!
Just take the calcium and vitamins at least an hour apart. Calcium and iron compete for absorption.
