Medicaid/Medicare/Vitamins

During my Dr. visit my Dr. informed me that Medicaid/Medicare will cover the expense of my multi vitamin, iron, calcium citrate and magnesium ... B12 is not covered. Reason: Because of WLS these vitamins/supplements are a medical necessity. Georgeann

Thank YOU Sister Georgie, This is some great and need to know news. I have started purchasing my vitamins myself, but if they are going to cover them, than I am going to check it out. I live in Iowa and I am on Medicaid, and I am going to call them to see if they are starting to cover these supplements. They should because like you said, they are a "Medical Necessity to WLS" and if they pay for WLS, then these vitamins should be no problem.
