Hi everyone! I know I am probally over reacting, but I am in the soft food part after surgery. I am so scared that I will throw up or worst yet have strictures. I don't think I am getting enough calories in. Was anyone else like this, when they were going through the soft food stage? Thanks for your help! Alicia

Hi Alicia, Dont be afraid to eat. It is the worst thing you can do. You have to eat to get in your protien and nutrition. I almost didnt have the surgery because I was afraid of throwing up. It took me 2 years to make the decision, and I have NEVER once thrown up. So start slow, chew, chew, chew, and dont be nervous. From what I am told, if you throw up it is not like before your surgery. It is like coughing up something that is stuck in your throat. But, that doesnt happen to everyone. Just do what you need to and remember it is temporary. You will be fine. Start with an egg or egg white. I ate a lot of egg whites, cottage cheese and oatmeal. Also I had creamed soup almost every day for a while. If you are nervous, put the stuff in your blender first to make it thinner. Good luck, and try to enjoy your meals. Hugs, Sue

Thanks Sue! I appreciate your comment. I did better this evening, I ate some tuna fish with a piece of whole wheat bread, that went down ok. Belive me, I chewed and chewed and chewed, and chewed, oh and did I mention that I chewed? LOL. Thanks again!! Hugs, Alicia

So Alicia, did you CHEW??? LOL! Im happy you are doing better. Be careful with what you eat so soon. Make sure it is soft. I didnt try tuna until after 5 weeks when I was on solid foods. Im not saying you shouldnt eat it, I just want to make sure you are following what your Dr. suggested. Keep up the good work. Hugs, Sue

My doctor told me it was ok to eat tuna fish. They said has long has I put in some light mayo, I would be fine. I can tell my taste buds have changed. Before I loved tuna, now I can barely stand it. Anyway have a great day!! Hugs, Alicia
