4 weeks - this is wonderful!

So, I am 4 weeks out of surgery. I am still so tired and am going to take a few more weeks off before going back to work, but here are some great things that have happened already: 1. My belly doesn't rub against the steering wheel. 2. I am now morbidly obese (and not "super morbidly obese") 3. I have lost 45 pounds 4. My collarbone is clearly visible. I don't remember the last time I saw that! 5. The day of surgery, I was a size 30/32 (elastic wait pants, of course, which pulled at the hips). A few nights ago, I tried on a pair of great looking size 24 jeans I had kept for some time because they were too nice to throw away, and I was able to get them on! OK, so I had to lie down and hold my breath to zip them, but I figure by next weekend they should look great. No elastic wait, real jeans! That is thrilling. 6. All of my underwear is falling down. 7. My skin looks great. Must be all the fluids. 8. I can tolerate everything I have tried and have not vomited at all. 9. I feel like a real person. 10. I have been carded every time I have bought cigarettes (this happened before as well, but it still feels great) and yesterday I was carded to buy "The Ring 2" at Wal-Mart, as if I am under 17 LOL. 10. I am checking out web sites for designer clothes and looking forward to the day..... I am thrilled I did this. I had some doubts pre-op, was not sure if it would work, was scared of failure, maybe even sying and leaving my kids alone, but I am so glad I did it. I wish I wuold've done it 10 years ago, then I would not be lying when I tell people I am 23. LOL. Sadly, no one believes I am 23 with a 13 year old child. I want to re-enjoy my young adulthood, go to clubs and concerts. There is so much I want to do now, and before all I wanted to do was watch TV. A couple more weeks of rest and I will be a new woman! Good luck to all of you! Carrie

Carrie, I am sooooo excited for you!; What a wonderful thing to have all those life altering WOW moments. I have heard that post-op paitents do feel the need to "reclaim" their young adulthood years that they missed out on by being obese(I hate that word) Anyway.. only 4 weeks out and down 45 pounds--GONE FOREVER!!!! What kinda diet gives you that kind of results????you GO Girl!!! *Virginia

Great Job Carrie, I know the feeling about fitting into smaller clothes... it really is thrilling. About 2 weeks ago, my mom and I went shopping at TJ Maxx, and she wanted to me to try on this pair of size 20 pants (hot pink, very cute). I tried them on, and they actually fit; it was a great feeling. I told my mom that the last time we went shopping at TJ Maxx, and I tried a pair of pants on, it was a size 28, and they fit horribly. I think that made my mom happy, too. I was also saving this pair of off-white capri jeans that I had in my closet. When I first tried them on, they were a little snug, so I thought I would wait a couple of weeks and then they would fit. So, when a bit of time had passed, and I was getting ready to wear them, I took them out and put them on, and they were pretty much falling off. I was a little disappointed at first but then realized it was a very good thing - lol. I can also relate to the underwear falling down - funny. Wishing you much success and hoping you get to enjoy your years that you "missed". Tanja
