Another Newbie!!
Wow, you must be TALL! (*grin*) I had my DS at 395, with a BMI of 75---but I'm only 5'1". I was 45 at the time.
I've had ZERO complications, and my only 'regret' is not doing this when I was younger (and less fat, LOL!)
My DS has, literally, given me my life back. I've gone from being a total couch potato to being out there and enjoying life each and every day. Yesterday and today I spent 10+ hours scraping and painting my windows. Earlier this summer, I built a deck---all by myself! I mow my yard every week---pre-op, I paid someone else to do this for me.
And more than anything, my DS has given me back my JOY in life.
Sally,
Welcome to the board ... you've come to the right place!!!
I'm 55 years old, started at 430, went up to 442 just after surgery, and am now down -110 lbs. I *did* have complications, but they were handled and I've felt great ever since. If you asked me if I'd go through this again, facing the same complications, I'd tell you YES YES YES. I've never felt so good about myself, felt so strong, or felt so sure I could accomplish a goal as I do now. I just wish that I'd had the opportunity to do this when I was younger like you.
Best wishes on your upcoming consultation, do your research, and then ... make your decision. No one can make it for you, but you're in the right place to get a good idea of life after (and before) WLS.
Blessings your way,
Myra
