Newbie with Questions:
My name is Santina. I have a BMI 58.6. Just found your sight and so encouraged to read your shares. I might have asked this question before on the main board. Does anyone know of a Support Group in Washington State near Camano Island? Stanwood is the closest town, but Marysville, Arlington, Mount Vernone, Everett and Bellingham are within driving distance.
Are any of the rest of you only dependant on this site for support? Will it work without the person to person support? I have my nutritionist appointment tomorrow and then everything should be complete. However, I am still trying to decide whether RNY or VBG. I am afraid of the more invasive surgery, but, wouldn't want to go through it all without losing enough weight. I am only 5' tall, 300# and 62 years old.
I was investigating this surgery 3 years ago, but chickened out only to lose and regain the same 70# over and over. Any of your advise will be greatly appreciated.

Please ALSO consider the DS. Many medical professionals think it's the very BEST choice for those of us starting out with a BMI greater than 50---and the post-op lifestyle just can't be beat!
You can learn more about the DS here:

Hi Ms. Batt:
Thank you for your suggestions. I went to the website you wrote, but my doctor only does Vertical Banded Gastrectomy and Roux en Y surgeries. Thank you for your response though. It sounds as though your are very pleased with your surgery. I appreciate your shares and being there.
Santina
