Hi Melinda, The best thing I can suggest is chair dancing, www.chairdancing.com It's a low impact movement program that you can do sitting in your chair. My highest BMI was 76, so I definitely understand mobility/pain issues. Any movement is better than no movement. Good luck! Mercy lap band

My BMI is 69.. I have lot of health prob's but not having to deal with oxygen tank.... Last year I had to give up my gym membership so no more water aerobics, thats the best low impact exercising. Now I just use these elastic bands and a big blue ball I got at Target it was a set and came with a video tape $29.95. I dont recommend too much with the ball if you dont have someone close by to "spot" you. Also i use one of the aerobic step its just a purple plasic thing with this black non-skid stuff on it, bought at a yard sale. I just step up on it and then step of....up, down, up, down. If you add music and fist punching you can work off a lot of stress to. Maybe you can improvise something.. The elastic band are great you can use them when your sitting or standing. Free wieght scare me =) Oh and if you have a volley ball or soccer ball you can squeeze it between your knees that a great one just dont do too much of anything at one time.

Hi Malinda, First I would like to welcome you to this board. When I started this journey my BMI was 107. I was in bad shape ... walker/wheelchair, home/portable oxygen 24/7 etc. I had to attend a 4 week nutrition class which required me to do a food journal ... keeping track on my protein, fat and carb intake. I also had to keep track of my daily exersise. Standing for even short periods of time was out of the question for me. I wrote a post simular to yours and this lady told me about a sit down cardio workout by Richard Simmons. I ordered it and have been using it every since. Richard Simmons Video Sit Tight: A Sitting Down Workout http://www.richard-simmons-video.com/v347.html Think you can't get a fantastic workout sitting down? Well just Sit Tight and join in on this challenging, feel-good, sit-down workout that will improve your stamina, boost your endurance and give you the energy you need to do all the things you want to do in life. If, for whatever reason, you can't exercise standing up, then this is the video workout just for you. Time: 25 Minutes Fitness Level: All $14.99 Do you have a nutritionist/dietitian working with you? You may want to also check out fitday.com to help you keep track of your eating and exercise. If there is anything I can do to help you please let me know. Georgeann

I have that tape!!! It is wonderful. Before I got it, I did my own chair dancing. I had a huge rocker recliner and I would put on my beloved DISCO and rock to the beat. I loved it and don'****ch the clock! Let your body tell you when you have had enough and try to go a bit past that. You will find you will increase over time. I couldn't stand well or walk but I loved feeling my thigh and leg muscles being used. Then I got some weights at a yard sale. Before I had those I filled up water jugs with water and lifted them above my head and such. (1/2 gallon ones) Blessings! Tina
