Hey Dorthe, That's horrible! OK, that's it. Every doctor in the world needs sensitivity training. It's one thing to tell us that we're going to die if we don't do something about our weight. Its another to make us wish we were already dead. But hey, I think that things like this are only going to make us appreciate losing the weight that much more.

Hi to all! I just can't believe all the stories of you gals. No wonder we don't go to the doctor until we absolutely have to. Strangely enough, by that time--everything that is wrong with us tends to be weight related. Blood -pressure, diabetes, irregular menstral cycles, GERD, shall I go on?? Why doesn't the insurance companies see that if they help us fix one thing (the weight) the rest of the issues get better. This surgery is the tool that we need to begin our better health. Fad diets may work for some people--but not me. My insurance company case manager had the nerve to tell me that I should ask my MD for diet pills because there are really so safe ones out there right now...and wouldn't it be better to loose the weight that way instead of such a "risky" surgery???I couldn't believe my ears!!! If that worked, why was I asking for the surgery??? It occurred to me that these insurance people must be told to stall the process in anyway they can. I feel like they are trying to "trick" me into jumping through more hoops so they can deny me again. We will see what happens in October when I can turn in my paperwork again. Do I sound bitter?? Wow...I do think that this was the most serious post that I ever wrote. This message board is great--I feel so much better. I wish I could put my big-old arms around all of you and make all the bad Doctor experiences go away and stay away! it sure is nioce to know that I'm not the only one. You guys ROCK !! Virginia
