What do you think "lightweights" think of this board?
Do you think any lightweights read this board and if they do what do you think they think about the things that we experience in our daily lives? Would it gross them out or bring empathy or what?
Another question I have is...after we loose weight and our BMI is under 50 are we allowed to be on this board or is it just for those over 50 BMI at the time? Just wondering what you all thought. I love this board!
hi cynthia: i started out at a bmi of 65 but didn't find this board until i had gotten down to 49.5 bmi. honestly, i think the issues we discuss on this board could benefit anyone, lightweight, middleweight, or heavyweight. i think that talking about stuff is great for us and could be enlightening for lurkers or 'lightweights'. so my thought is, let 'em come on board. we're all here to help each other, right?
take care, girl
talk to you soon

You betcha' ! It has been so healing for me to talk to others, or just read about others having gone through the same daily "challenges" as me. But I have friends that I have shared briefly little things..like, when walking into a room, immediately looking to see if the chairs are armless or if there are chairs or if they are booths
etc. They totally had never given it a thought. I didn't either until I became obese. I don't think most "normal" people know the challenges that obesity brings, do you? Just like, we would probably not understand ALL the challenges that a person with another type of disability might have. I do think though that a lot of people would be
to read some of the battles that have we have gone through...not having given it a thought that there would be these types of battles. Blessings!
I agree with you Cynthia. This is the greatest board. But I feel that way not only because we share all the same problems, but all of us SMO's have such great personalities. I get my belly laughs every day with you guys.
As to your questions, I think the lightweights might read this and be glad they had or are having the surgery before they got to where we were. By the way, never ever leave this board because like a cancer survivor, you will always be a recovering SMO. My BMI is now 39 but my head BMI will always remember being in the 60's. I go to a restaurant and get that panic feeling when I am led to a booth. I can fit now, but mentally, I freak at the sight of it. I still have some problems with those paper gowns because of the skin hanging on my arms. But, I am learning to live as a smaller SMO (if that makes cense)
We are all sisters forever.
Sue
I agree totally with you, Sue!!!
I get my belly laughs here too! My husband and kids will hear me laughing and know that I'm at the computer reading what you all are sharing!
Boy, I'm so glad that I'll be allowed to still be on this board. Hey, Sue, congrats on your BMI being down to 39! That is awesome!
Blessings!
Thanks Cynthia. Now I can qualify to have WLS as a lightweight
My head isnt caught up to my body yet, but I am working on it. I am down over 140lbs but I still have so so much more go. Thats why I am so glad I found this board. Only you know how I feel, and only I know how you feel. Like I said in another post, I am so irritated when I read the main board when these people start at a WHOPPING 250lbs and lose 100lbs and cant get that last 10lbs off
. puleeeez, I can pee and lose 10lbs. I wish I was at a whopping 250lbs You know what I am talking about girlfriend. Thats why we are bonded.
Hugs,
Sue
Personally I have UNDERWEAR that weigh more than 10lbs.
I dont care who you tell or what they know. If you havent LIVED in a Super morbid or a Morbid Obese body, they have NO idea
I tell people especially now that I have told them all what I have decided to do surgery wise and there like WHAT. They act like its a big secret me being 400lbs and I just woke up and decided to talk about it.
Being on this board is amazing. We all connect in one way or another and as each gets smaller we will always have that bond and help each other to the end. hugs margaret
