Well I will be 4 weeks post op on Tues.. I was really hoping to have lost some BIG amount of pounds but Im finding that Im off to a slow start. Im down 20lbs so far-and havent lost a single pound in a week now. I really am not complaining- I cant think of a time when I lost 20lbs so quickly without some crazy, unhealthy, crash diet.. Ive been eating pretty good, havent really had true hunger, and havent had to struggle for protein or water..(thankfully my surgeon insist on a gtube for 4weeks) What I find the most amazing is how good I feel.. I feel so much better then I did just 4 weeks ago. I didnt think that 20lbs would make that much of a difference, but it does! Everyday I feel better, I have more energy, and I find something else that I can do now that I couldnt before.. There are still many things I cant do by myself but slowly I will be able to do it all. I just have to have some patience.. Really waiting for the day when I can tie my shoes without feeling like some kind of contortionist (sp)!! And when did my feet get so darn far out of reach?? For those that are pre-op, my personal experience has been that this surgery has changed my life for the better in so many ways! I have been more active then I had been in over a year. And thanks to this site I have found friends that truely understand the everyday struggles... Amber

Great Job Amber! 20 pounds is a big accomplishment, and every pound makes a difference. There have been times when I wished I had lost more weight or thought I should be losing faster, but when you put it in perspective like you did (like trying to think of a time before this when you have lost that much weight in such a short time span without torturing yourself), it makes a whole lot more sense. I've had to do that too. And like many people on here have said, as long as you're losing and not gaining, I think you're successful. You're doing great, and I'm very happy for you. Take Care, Tanja

Hi Amber, You'll be tieing those shoes in no time!!!! I haven't had my surgery yet, but it seems that 20 pounds is awesome! And on top of that you can already tell you FEEL better and have MORE energy!!! That is what it is all about!!!!!! IT'S HAPPENING FOR YOU!!!! From what I read, the weight will come off, just keep doing what your doc says no matter what the scale says! I think you're doing fantastic and your body is still healing too! God bless and keep up the good work!!!
