Favorite songs?
Last year pre op, this song touched a nerve and I made it "my song". It just seemed to tell how I felt, in my unhealthy 534 pound misery. I was out there living and working but I was so tired and knew there 'was a better place". Now, this year, I heard the second song and made it my 1st year pre op song.
I just wanted to share them.
Do ya'll have songs you can relate to?
Lubbins and blessings!

LOS LONELY BOYS LYRICS
Heaven
Vamanos!
Save me from this prison
Lord, help me get away
'Cause only you can save me now
From this misery
Well I've been lost in my own place
And I'm getting' weary
How far is heaven?
And I know that I need to change
My ways of living
How far is heaven?
Lord, can you tell me?
I've been locked up way too long
In this crazy world
How far is heaven?
I just keep on prayin', Lord
I just keep on livin'
How far is heaven?
(Oh, Lord, can you tell me?)
How far is heaven?
(I just gotta know how far it is)
How far is heaven?
(Oh, Lord, can you tell me?)
Tu que estas en alto cielo, hechame tu bendicion.
[translated from Spanish: you that's in a higher place, send me down a blessing]
'Cause I know there's a better place
In this place I'm livin'
How far is heaven?
So I just got to show some faith
And just keep on givin'
How far is heaven?
(Oh, Lord can you tell me)
How far is heaven?
(I just gotta know how far it is)
How far is heaven?
(Oh, Lord, can you tell me?)
How far is heaven?
I just gotta know how far
I just wanna know how far
THIS YEAR:
"Better Now" by Collective Soul
Yeah-yeah
Oh, I'm newly calibrated
Yeah-yeah
Oh, shiny and clean
Yeah-yeah
I'm your recent adaptation
Yeah-yeah
Time to redifine me
Let the word out
I've got to get out
Whoa, I'm feeling better now
Break the news out
I've got to get out
Whoa, I'm feeling better now
Yeah-yeah
I'm happy as Christmas
Yeah-yeah
All wrapped to be seen
Yeah-yeah
I'm your recent acquisition
Yeah-yeah
Time to celebrate me
Let the word out
I've got to get out
Whoa, I'm feeling better now
Break the news out
I've got to get out
Whoa, I'm feeling better
The world's done shakin'
The world's done shakin'
The world's done shakin' me down
The world's done shakin'
The world's done shakin'
The world's done shakin' me down
Let the word out
I've got to get out
Whoa, I'm feeling better now
Break the news out
I've got to get out
Whoa, I'm feeling better now
Let the word out
I've got to get out
Whoa, I'm feeling better now
Break the news out
I've got to get out
Whoa, I'm feeling better now
Hi Tina,
It's funny you should write about this subject; I was just thinking of a song last night that I used to love called "I Am Free" by Mariah Carey. Whenever I heard it, I used to dream of being "free," not only from my fat, miserable body but also from my all-encompassing depression. Since I started on my journey to a new me in January, I have felt more free than I have in many years.
Here are the lyrics:
Once I was a prisoner
Lost inside myself
With the world surrounding me
Wandering through the misery
But now I am free...
You gave me a breath of life
Unclouded my eyes
With sweet serenity
Lighting a ray of hope for me...
And now I am free...
Free to Live
Free to Laugh
Free to Soar
Free to Shine
Free to Give
Free to Love
Free Enough to Fly
Once I was so all alone
Unsteady and cold
But your love rained down upon me
Washing away uncertainty
But now
I am free
Take Care,
Tanja
I know that music has a very powerful effect on people. I have been playing clarinet and sax for most of my life, and I love funk. I know that, fat or thin, there are some songs that ALWAYS make me feel great, like I am the most attractive, coolest chick on earth, if only for 3 or 4 minutes.
These are my favorites:
1. "Let's Groove" by Earth, Wind & Fire
2. "You Sexy Thing" by Hot Chocolate
3. "Do Fries Go With That Shake?" by George Clinton
4. "It's Raining Men" by the Weather Girls
5. "Bad Mama Jama (She's Built She's Stacked)" by Carl Carlton
6. "Love Rollercoaster" by The Ohio Players
7. "Rapper's Delight" by the Sugarhill Gang
8. "Back in Black" by AC/DC
9. "Brick House" by The Commodores
10. "Give it to Me Baby" by Rick James, the GREATEST musician ever
Carrie? Hello? Could you be a relative?
cause I am a "Superfreak" from my head down to my toenails......
Please tell me you like some Donna Summer and KC & The Sunshine Band too????
~Tina

Strength, Courage & Wisdom Lyrics
Inside my head there lives a dream that I want to see in the sun
Behind my eyes there lives a me that I've been hiding for much too long
'Cause I've been, too afraid to let it show
'Cause I'm scared of the judgment that may follow
Always putting off my living for tomorrow
It's time to step out on faith, I've gotta show my faith
It's been illusive for so long, but freedom is mine today
I've gotta step out on faith, It's time to show my faith
Procrastination had me down but look what I have found, I found
[Chorus]
Strength, courage, and wisdom
And it's been inside of me all along,
Strength, courage, and wisdom
Inside of me
Behind my pride there lives a me, that knows humility
Inside my voice there is a soul, and in my soul there is a voice
But I've been, too afraid to make a choice
'Cause I'm scared of the things that I might be missing
Running too fast to stop and listen
It's time to step out on faith, I've gotta show my faith
It's been illusive for so long but freedom is mine today
I've gotta step out on faith it's time to show my faith
Procrastination had me down but look what I have found, I found
[Chorus]
Strength, courage, and wisdom
And it's been inside of me all along,
Strength, courage, and wisdom
Inside of me
[Bridge]
I close my eyes and I think of all the things that I want to see
'Cause I know, now that I've opened up my heart I know that
Anything I want can be, so let it be, so let it be:.
[Chorus]
Strength, courage, and wisdom
It's been inside of me all along,
Strength, courage, wisdom
It's been inside of me all along, everyday I'm praying for:
[Chorus]
Strength, courage, and wisdom
To find me, yeah,
Strength, courage, and wisdom
Inside of me
Vamp
I found it in me, I found it finally
I'm sure to keep it' cause I like it, I say thank you
And
Ruben Studdard-Flying Without Wings
Everybody's looking for that something
One thing that makes it all complete
You'll find it in the strangest places
Places you never knew it could be
Some find it in the faces of their children
Some find it in their lover's eyes
Who can deny the joy it brings
When you find that special things
You're flying without wings
Some find it sharing every morning
Some in their solitary lives
You'll find it in the words of others
A simple line can make you laugh or cry
You find it in the deepest friendship
The kind you cherish all your life
And when you know how much that means
You've found that special thing
You're flying without wings
So, impossible as they may seem
You've got to fight for every dream
Cos who's to know which one you let go
Would have made you complete
Well, for me it's waking up beside you
To watch the sun rise on your face
To know that I can say I love you
at any given time or place
It's little things that only I know
Those are the things that make you mine
And it's like flying without wings
Cos you're my special thing
I'm flying without wings
You're the place my life begins
You'll be where it ends
I'm flying without wings
And that's the joy you bring
I'm flying without wings
what a wonderful question!!!
if i had to pick my most current favorite it would have to be
'live like you were dying'
for all time favorite i still love
'bridge over troubled water'
to me, music is alot like breathing. it's necessary to my life. i don't pretend to know who the artists are-most of the time, but the words to a song are what usually draws me, with the beat being secondary.
have a good one
