Hey, calling all post-ops...
hi cynthia:
i spent a couple nights on the recliner when i got home, too. mostly because i was concerned that my husband not inadvertently harm the surgical site. i agree with previous posts, though, you'll find what works best for you and go with it. i was 440 at the time and stopped using the hated cpap the day i came home from the hospital. haven't used it or blood pressure medication since then, either.
good luck, girl
talk to you soon.
dorthe
Cynthia,
I slept in my bed. I sat in the recliner to watch tv a little in the evenings but other than that, I was up and doing... I really didn't sleep much extra after surgery and I went to bed like I normally do. I weighed 453 on the day of my surgery (down from a high of 499).
Everyone's experience is going to be different but surgery really didn't have much of an impact on me and it was much easier than everyone made me think it was going to be. I stayed in the hospital two nights and then drove myself home. I had surgery on Tuesday, August 2 and was back to work the following Monday. Other people really struggle and are knocked down for quite awhile. My advice is to plan for the BEST case scenario knowing that there may be be some bumps in the road.
You will do fine!
Patti
Hi Cynthia,
I know Im a little late but I work so many hours, I dont get on as much as I would like to. However, I was in my recliner for about 3 wks. The reason was because I came home with a tube in my belly for 2 weeks, and being a belly sleeper
it didnt work to well in bed. I also had open, so it was much eaiser in a recliner. I also think it depends on your mattress too. If its lower to the floor then it will be harder to get up and down. I had a heck of a time in the hospital getting in and out of bed. In the grand skeem (sp) of things, it is such a short time that you wont remember or think about it and it goes by fast.
sleep good tonight
Sue
