I HAVE A DATE!!!!!
Hi Marlena!!
I am soooo happy for you!!

Nobody in the world deserves this surgery more than my fellow SMO sisters/and or brothers!!! ((((((Big platonic HUG)))))
It aint easy getting poked and proded and asked questions like,"Why do you think you got fat?" by the pychiatrists ---Oh and to top it off...to prove you are worthy of this surgery.....by going on diets that don't work...just so they can tell you that you didn't "suffer enough" to meet their criteria
....AM I Bitter???...A little....am I happy for you??..ABSOLUTELY!!!!! If you faint..we will catch you! Your reward is just around the corner..you'll be home is time to meet and greet the Trick-or-treaters. I know what you could go trick-or-treating as..A LOOSER!!!!!!

Marlena,
Congratulations... I will never forget when I got the message on my cell phone that I was approved... the phone was in my car and when Doc Williams (my hubby) and I were headed out somewhere I checked messages... I was so excited that I threw my phone at my hubby.
The next 6 weeks you will probably obsess about surgery (I did anyway). I read tons of profiles and was very active on the OH board. I had been waiting for four years and researched for two years before I began to try to get approved so I had all my researching done but I still couldn't get enough information.
My suggestion is to try to lose as much weight as you can the month before (to shrink your liver so that the job is easier for your surgeon). Eat LOTS of protein so that your body is ready to heal. Quit any habits that have to be given up post-op... for example, I used to drink Diet Pepsi and (regular) Mountain Dew like a fish so I gave those up. Start shopping for low cal high protein foods now... it can be very overwhelming to go into a grocery store where they have 100,000 different products and you are tasked with finding the three things in the whole joint that will work for you. Those things will make your post-op period easier.
Good Luck!
Patti
