Almost 150 pounds gone and STILL in the same size?

I know that I have been griping a lot about my slow loss or gaining water weight in the last few days, but this is just a downer for me. I have lost almost 150 pounds and am still in a size 26/28 pant. I hear others talk about how they drop dress sizes in a matter of weeks. I am just wondering when this will happen for me? I know I have gone far and am doing great, but still fitting in the same size clothes is frustrating in my mental image of what I look like Is it any wonder that I still think I am 448 pounds? Thanks for letting me vent. Susan }i{

HI Susan, Well I am still pre-op. But I can tell you that I am squeezing into my clothes right now so I know it will be quite sometime before I will be going down into other size of clothes. Just a thought, Monica F.

Susan, I've lost 82.5 lbs so far and have been amazed not to have dropped much in the pant size either. Where did I put that 82.5 lbs? But, I feel much healthier and that is what I'm focusing on. Are you feeling better? Lori 384/301.5/170

OMG, susan. I could have written that exact same post. you're saying what i've been feeling and not been able to put into words too well. i think that the sizes 26/28 and 30/32 are SO elasticized they allow for a whole lot of weight ranges. i also think that once you start hitting the size 26, 24... the sizes go down more quickly. (at least that's what i'm hoping for). but, you know, i'm still thankful every day for the amount of BETTER that i feel. i tried on a shirt i had worn as an overshirt b4wls. it overlapped my body by about 8 inches. i never ever measured myself before surgery. i wasn't concerned about the scale or the sizes i just wanted to live. that's what i take with me out the door every single day - now. i'm alive. what will i do with this day of life i've been given? hugs to you susan. please remember how far you've come. and enjoy. hugs again dorthe

You won't see it.... my advice... take someone with you... you may be in a smaller size and just not see it or realize it... I tried something on in a store and had a girlfriend there with me who told me that what I had picked out was too big.... I was shocked when the next size down fit!!!! I would have never tried it had I been alone... it seemed just fine to me. Also buy some smaller sizes for inspiration... go to the local thrift store... buy something in smaller sizes.... a 22, a 20 ... an 18 and a 16... and then hang in the closet... try them on every once in a while... you won't think you fit them... but one day you will try them on and realize they do!!!! This is so much of a mental journey as well... a lot of times our bodies make the leap long before our minds catch up.... Have fun B

Susan: I find I am changing sizes fairly quickly now, BUT didn't see it until a few months ago. I am down 208 so far and now the stuff is changing. Someone mentioned the elastic and stretch and I believe that too. I can wear zipper jeans now and could not before. Check your sizing in clothing that does not 'give'. Bras. Geez. I tried on some a few days ago and I can wear a 44 or 46 B and C but the excess skin under my arms rolls and pokes out and does wierd stuff. I used to wear a 56 DD/DDD. I swear I am so tickled at the loss of pounds and the excess doesn't bother me appearance wise, it's getting the clothes to fit properly. ~Tina~
