having a rough time here
Im having my first real hard time since surgery. For almost 4 days now I havent been able to hold down food and hardly any water. My pouch and my old stomache just ache. I sat down tonight and figured it out, Ive consumed less then 1000 calories in the past 4 days together. Im dehyrated, I feel horrible, and my whole body aches. I dont know what to do. I called my surgeon and will be seeing him tomorrow. He didnt seem overly concerned since Im able to swallow things and keep them down for a short time without actual pain, just nausea. He seems to think that most of the problem is from being so dehyrated. I just hope he is right. I do have a gtube and Im doing my best to use it often but everytime I put anything in through it I end up feeling so horrible that I just lay and cry for hours.
There has been a serious WOW moment for me though. when I started on my WLS journey my BMI was 60. At the time of surgery my BMI was 54, and now my BMI is 49.7!! In total Ive lost over 60lbs. And all that was last week, I havent been on a scale in just over a week now. So Im loosing weight... Although it isnt nearly as exciting as it should be since I feel so horrible.
Ive wanted to keep up with everyone here but I just cant do it while I feel this way. I hope everyone is doing great. If Ive missed any important news lately Im so sorry. Ill try to catch up with everything once Im feeling better. All of you on this board are very important to me, even though I dont post much, I feel like I know each of you, and Ive come to depend on you all for many things. (mostly a good laugh when Im feeling down) Once Im feeling better I promise I will be much more active on the board..
Amber
Hi Amber,
I'm so sorry that you are feeling so bad. I am still pre-op but my son had GBS in Feb 2004. He had quite a time of it also. I don't know if you've ever been pregnant..I know that sound weird to compare but, they way my son described his nausea was...like I describe morning-sickness. Some times of the day food and water seemed o.k. but other times...don't even let me smell it!!. WE were told that this was normal..the less you want the water..the more your body needs it. I guarantee that the sicky feeling will go away. You have just experienced major surgery and your body needs time to heal. Have you gone back to work yet? Sometimes we have to head back way too soon and it is exausting. I hope that your doctor has some answers for you. Your weight-loss is awsome...you are our new hero here on the over 50 BMI message board..you are a true SMO sister!! Amber please take care and let us know what the dr. says. We are all rooting for you!
Hugs to you
Virginia
Amber,
(((((((BIG HUG)))))))) I'm so sorry that you feel so yucky. You know it will pass.........its just a small inconveinence in the great scheme of things. I'm pre-op, so I can be very free with this advice..........I hope it doesnt seem to trivialize your problem.

This is a picture of all of your SMO sisters taking "virtual" care of you through this rough patch!!
