Depressed and Hibernating...
Hi Monica,
I too suffer from severe depression and at times have missed alot of work simply because I just couldn't deal with people or issues. I know this is not the cure to everything but are you on medication for your depression. I have been on many anti-depressant that didn't work but I kept trying until I found one that worked for me. Also, you may want to think about seeing a counselor or therapist to help you deal with the emotions you are feeling. I have seen a counselor before and just talking about how I was feeling seemed to help. Just know that you are not alone. We are here for you. Don't give up!!!!!!!!

hi monica:
i'm so sorry you're going through such a tough time, girl. the attitude adjustment will need to come from within, but that doesn't mean you just need to wait for it. see a funny movie, read a great book, talk to a friend who makes you laugh, come visit the boards again and again, do what you gotta - just please don't give up.
i lost my brother to a heart attack at Easter-he was 42. my father passed away july 11th. my daughter moved to college two weeks ago, and now i've found out i need a hysterectomy/provided they don't find cancer.
LIFE IS GOOD.
It may seem impossible, monica, but the thing about life is that it's constantly changing and challenging. sometimes it's even incomprehendible. but it's always God's plan so we know it's GOOD.
i've been on paxil for many, many years. mostly because of the weight. i understand your need for resolution and your impatience for the surgery, but everything happens for a reason. please, please open your heart to your life as it is now and that it's a blessing.
by all means, be proactive about getting your date, but in the meantime, LIFE IS GOOD. try and enjoy the days as they come, monica, and remember, come back to the board whenever you need to. we're all here for you.
(((hugs)))

Hang in there Monica,
Just a word of caution... take this time to find out what works to lift your spirits other than meds, food, or alcohol... and get lots of it in the house before surgery. If you love movies... then buy a stock from Walmart and keep on hand for those down nights. Contrary to what I thought... depression hit me like a locomotive AFTER surgery... my doc theorized that I had been self-medicating myself for years by eating... so by suddenly not being able to eat like I used to... I threw my body into shock.. and my self into a major depressive episode. Surgery may not cure this... but make it worse... hope it doesn't happen to you... but it does for many of us... but you can make it through this too... WE ARE SURVIVORS!
B
