I was thinking about this the other night. And I realized that I don't have a will. Now considering that I am 34 and don't own anything worth a boop. I figured that I did not need one. Then I spoke to my father and he said that even if I don't own anything worth money. I should still have one because then everything has to go through the state first and they get sometimes over 50%. So I thought hmmmmm... since I am going under the knife soon. I probably should have a will. I just thought I would share this all with you. Not that I am afraid something is going to happen, but just to protect myself and my family from alot more headaches and hassles. Monica F.

Hi Monica! I don't have anything of value either, but my parents made me get a will 11 years ago when we were all going on a cruise together for their 50th wedding anniversary... just in case something happened while we were all away together. Nice thoughts as one is planning a vacation getaway, huh!? Anyway, I had one drawn up then. I just updated it this past June for several reasons, one naturally being pending WLS. I also had a living will drawn up this time too. I don't want to leave anything to question if something were to happen to me. Huggs, Ruth

Hi Monica, I don't have a will, either, but what your father said makes sense. Like Ruth, I made up a living will. I did do it before my surgery, and that was partially my motivation, but I also did it because I was so affected by the Terri Schiavo case in Florida that was in the spotlight about that time. Take Care, Tanja

Hi everybody, I guess I'd better get a will too..it's just a good idea to have one. But nobody likes to think about the inevitable...you just don't want to think about it. As uncomfortable as it is...gotta do it! I just hate the thought of my family being left with everything up in the air. Virginia

Thanks Tanja, I never thought about a living will. I will have to look into that as well. Monica F.

hi monica: it's always a good idea to have a will. in MN, if you don't have one you can lose up to a third of your holdings to probate. and the hospital i was in gave me a directive to fill out when i checked in. HAPPY THOUGHTS?? not pleasant but incredibly necessary. and once they're done, you can breathe a sigh of relief and stop feeling guilty about it. take care dorthe
