I know this sounds weird...

Monica, I had my surgery on May 23, 2005. Before I went under the knife, I drew up a will, a living will and a durable power of attorney. I don't really have anything either, but, I also very much did not want to live as a vegetable if something went wrong with the surgery! Lori 384/298/170

Hi Lori, Maybe you can tell me - Did you do yourself from a do-it-yourself kit. Or did you have a laywer draw them up. I am really strapped for cash right now since I am paying for my surgery out of pocket. Any info would be great! Thanks, Monica F.

Monica, I had a lawyer draw them up, but, believe me, I didn't need to. I'm pretty sure you could easily do it with a "do it yourself kit". You basically just answer questions. And for the Durable Power of Attorney and Living Will there are very few questions to answer. I do recommend it though. A 43 year old woman with 5 kids just died here in Salt Lake about a month ago or so. She never got out of the hospital after WLS...so scary! Lori
