Hi girls. Ok, here goes, kinda long. I have had menstral problems since....forever. Always bleeding and I can't stop (I'm talking for 1 yr or longer!!!) or I wouldn't have a period for months on end. I have had that I can remember 5 D/C's to stop my periods. I have never had a baby or been prego. and I'm 35. Well I was diagnosed with endometrosis (sp?) a couple of yrs ago and they wanted to keep me on the pill. Fine. At one point my gyn was talking about getting me fixed. Well last summer the bleeding started AGAIN. So on July 16th of last year I had another D/C and went on the depo shot. But, if you know the shot, your supposed to get 1 shot every 3 months. I had to have a shot every month for 3 months and then went once every 3 months. My last shot was due the day after my RNY, so of course I couldn't get it, per surgeon, (fear of blood clots after surgery). So I didn't get it. Well I went to gyn sometime in July to get some kind of birth control and I chose "Seasonal". You have a period once every 4 months. So I have been taking this for 11 weeks now. My problem......I'm bleeding again. I have had a period for the last 3 weeks, at some point it was just brown stuff, sorry, but now today I'm bleeding. I AM SOO SICK OF THIS!! I've lost 87 lbs at my last weigh, and gyn keeps telling me my periods will get better as my weight comes off. HELLLO.....WHAT MORE DO I NEED TO DO???????? I did go and see gyn last Wed and she told me my body needs to "bleed out". What the hell is that??? She wants me to have a period again. NOOOOOO. Anyway, I don't know if my body is not absorbing the pill. I don't want to be on the depo shot because it packs on the weight. She suggested an IUD, but I've never used one of them. Any suggestions??? Sorry this is so long, I'm just really frustrated with the whole thing. Thanks for listening. ~Carmella~

Carmella, I know exactly what you are going thru. I have 4 kids. After the 4th, I had my tubes tied. I have always had irregular periods, but after the 4th I would flow very heavily for weeks and months. I went to my then gyn and he will not do a hysterectomy on me because he said I was too fat!! Those were his exact words!! Grrrrrr!!!!! Later I find out he doesn't like to 'sterilize' females!!! LOL N E Way, Since I had the surgery in April, my periods have becaome more painful.....BUT.......I am flowing alot less heavily now and I seem to stop on a normal time frame instead of weeks, months, it's now 3-5 days. And I am alot more comfy because the flow is greatly reduced and I don't worry so much about making a mess in public which has happened in the past. I don't know if this helps you, but I just wanted you to know that mine is getting better and maybe yours will too. Toodles, Reneé 41/316/125 -102 pounds!!

Thanks Renee: My gyn wanted me to have a hysterderctomy too, but when she found out that I was having RNY she wanted to wait. I'm down 87 lbs in 3 months and I just want this bleeding to stop. I guess I'm gonna have to stick this week out and have another period. To make it worse this time, is I had foot surgery last week and I can't walk on it and I have to use an bedside commode for 2 more weeks. So I guess this just all around sucks for now. Hopefully I'll be surprised in 2 more weeks when I can stand on a scale and weigh myself, it will have been 3 weeks!!!! Thanks for your reply!! Carmella

Hi Carmella, Sorry you are going through this I too used to have problems with my period, but after my last son I got the Mirena IUD and I LOVE it. I've not had a period since November of 2003 and I do see the GYN yearly for my exams and have talked to him about no period and he says its ok and that some women have that as a side effect of the IUD. I'm preop and plan on keeping my IUD as my form of birth control. Hopefully this helps in someway or another. Take care Anita

I had the same problem after my last baby. I had an endometrial ablation. Its a procedure where they burn the lining of your endometrium. It stops the bleeding but your endometrium grows back slowly then your cycle will start again. After the procedure was not fun because I had drainage for 30 days first it was blood then clear fld from the burning off. I had this before I had the hysterectomy. If I were you I would research this procedure before I would get fixed. Mainly because I know u want kids someday.
