So Discouraged
Willby,
You have the love and support of this whole board. There are all these people here to help you in times like this. Its not easy and its not going to get easy. This is going to be a struggle for you for some time. But thats why this surgery is so important for people like us, it gives us the tool we need to learn to control our eating habits.
The person who suggested seeing someone to talk about this is dead on. You may find you need someone to talk to, confide in, and to just plain unload all these things on. If you find a good professional they may be able to help you deal with this.
The struggle goes on even after surgery- the difference is that once you have surgery there is a nasty side effect from making bad choices!! And it does help you to learn good habits. But it can still be emotional- just know that a little pain and suffering is so worth the end result!
For now, if you screw up- dont beat yourself up.. Make the decision to take control of yourself and get back with it. You are human, you are going to have moments of weakness. Learn from them, try to find out what sets you on the eating binges and then find other ways to deal with it.. (can you tell, Im back in therapy for this same issue post-op)
If you need anything let me know. I work midnights so Im here all night and always available through email.. I know how you feel! Be strong and you will find a way to get through this!

Oh Willby... you will be thin soon!!
Don't give up even when it seems your only option.
. You always have other options. Tomorrow is another day.
You've had bad eating habits for years... if you could just flip a switch and stop over eating you wouldn't be getting the surgery!!! You'll do fine!! We all have good days and bad days and really horrible days.... but we're in this together... I won't have an Eskimo going overboard this early in the game.. Now go get your surgery so when I get my turn I can come to you for advice...
I have a friend who did the liquid diet and said the trick is to never get hungry like when you can eat food you get hungry.. she said to eat liquids all day long. Sugar free popsicles and sugar free cocoa and iced tea with loads of ice to crunch... broth and cream soups and she said what someone on here did... after a week she wasn't ever hungry.. and now she is a post op and so stinking skinny I could kick her butt!!!!! LOL
You can do it and when you can't .. we'll pick you up and carry you.. or at the least drag you kickin' and screamin'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Heya Bridget,
I'm pullin' for ya here. Try to think of all the wonderful things you will be able to do when you are thinner and healthier. Stay focused, if you can, on those things. Think about them when you feel yourself getting that urge, and I'd even try to imagine my liver getting smaller and safer for surgery. If you fall off the wagon, get back on and try again. Don't beat yourself up about it because that sure won't help.
I am so sorry this is such a struggle for you. I know I am going to have to do it, too because my liver is estimated at about 60 pounds. The doc said they will have to hold it up out of the way during the whole surgery, and that puts me at great risk, so I am going to have to kick myself in the butt, and try like heck to do this.
You can do this. You are worth it. You are worth more than any temporary good feeling you might get from eating something yummy. Do anything you can to distract yourself. I hope it gets easier for you. Take gentle care.
Willby,
Try and focus on what the payoff will be. I did my liquid diet to shrink my liver, it was extremely hard and I didn't think I'd make it, but, I did. It was so very wonderful to know that I had shrunk my liver and that I was able to qualify for the laproscopic version of the RNY due to my efforts! I was so thrilled! You can be too, girl. You really can!
