I did it!

I finally did it. I finally had enough and decided to quit my job. Yeah thats right.. I quit my job! My health has been up and down, Im having some complications from surgery and I just dont need the stress and crap from these people. The final straw was tonight when my manager actually had the nerve to "question" my work.. Ive been at this job for 19 months, (thats 9 months longer then my manager too) never had a single complaint or problem.. Ive worked the overtime when they needed it, I help out with whatever project they come up with, and I help out the newer people when there isnt a supervisor here.. My mistake.. He actually questioned if I was doing my job.. H*ll no Im not doing MY job, Im doing mine and plus picking up other peoples slack.. well no more.. I stewed for an hour after he questioned my work.. I called my husband to let him know I was going to quit and then I called my manager at home and let him know.. I am going to give my 2 weeks notice of course, but I let him know quite clearly that I will do MY job, I will not come in early, stay late or help out with anything extra during the 2 weeks. Plain and simple, Ill come in, do my job and leave. Ive been treated like crap the whole time Ive worked here cause I work midnights so I dont see many people. The company buys the day shift and afternoon shift lunch atleast once a month but midnights get nothing. They gave out cards and little gifts to the other 2 shifts today for working so hard but did midnights get anything?? H*ll no.. well enough!! This surgery may be causing me some grief right now but it sure gave me the courage to stand up and say Im done.. I dont need to be treated like this. I deserve better.. Now I can focus on myself and my health for a bit. Hopefully now that Im not working so many hours I can get myself taken care of and start to enjoy the results of surgery.. AHHH!! I feel so much better knowing I only have 2 weeks left to go.. and I have some paid time off coming so Ill take a couple nights off my last week.. Sorry to rant, I just needed to tell someone.. If any of you pre-ops are in need of a little courage- just wait. You may find yourself having it once you have the surgery.. Amber

kudos on what sounds like a good decision for your health. i'm impressed as all get out that you gave them two weeks notice. i would have been sorely tempted to not do so. i hope you give yourself enough time to recoup, relax, and reconnect with yourself and loved ones. take care dorthe

Oh Amber!! You go girl! too bad the company you work for didn't recognize what a great employee they had working for them....it sure would had helped if you got a little recognition right?? Well, for now anyway...take care of your health problems....something is better just around the corner. I think I will borrow some of your rant to deal with my pre-op run around today. Take care....only 2 weeks left!! Hugs & Smiles, Virginia
