If you have time read this article I was really surprised at the information. Especially about children and obesity.
The article does make sense. I don't think that it is a lack of grocery stores in poorer neighborhoods. I do believe that it is a cost sensitive issue. Pasta and potatoes are very inexpensive, especially when compared to lean meats and most fresh produce. I tend to buy fruits and veggies that are in season. I am certainly guilty of buying pasta and potatoes in quantity because it makes a $ stretch farther.
