Postponed
Hi Everyone,
What a horrid day. My hubby's surgeon has now postponed his operation twice. He wants my sweetie to lose another 20lbs., although the last time he was checked out the doctor told him lose another 10lbs. and set the surgery date. This is the same doctor that John Ott had so I think he may be feeling nervous.
We are so
I don't know what to do! My hubby is the kind of guy that once he works for something real hard and it doesn't work out, he wants to give up because he becomes so discouraged and hurt. And as his wife I want to encourage him not to give up and return to the lure of emotional eating. I say that and I'm feeling so stressed I want to go get a drink! Jeez.
After heated discussions,
my sweetie has finally agreed to keep trying to lose the weight but will call the doctor next week for a definite number of pounds to lose (to prevent the rug being pulled out from under him) and his surgeon can't agree to that he wants to locate another surgeon (closer to home) who will perform the surgery.
Has anyone gone through this and was sucessful in locating another doctor willing to proceed without starting ALL over again?
What a F***ed day
sorry vi, i haven't had anything like that happen and, i think it's bizarre that some people have to lose weight to have weight loss surgery. it's dang near an oxymoron. if you can lose the weight, why have the wls?
and i know some drs prefer it because it's easier to access the stomach, but having it happen twice seems unconscionable.
i hope you hubby does call for a definite number and barring that, i hope he finds a different (better) surgeon. no one deserves to go through what he, and you, have had to do.
good luck
dorthe
Hi Vi!
I am so sorry to hear about the stress you and your hubby are experiencing right now. It is hard enough to go through the process of WLS and to add to it with this mess would drive anyone of us crazy. I have not had to pick up and find another sugeon last minute, but I wanted to tell you that I sympathize and wish you and your hubby the best of luck.
Sincerel,
SipeleK
Ps..What a beautiful picture!
Good Morning all,
Thanks for the words of encouragement and support. Well, it's a new day and I'm no longer feeling ticked off, just so sad. Cindy, I understand what
you're saying...right or wrong some doctors require people to lose weight before the surgery (Dorthe, I couldn't agree with you more...how stupid is that??) but I think what is so irksome is the rollercoaster effect and that the doctor keeps changing his mind, it seems on a whim or is picking some arbitrary number...sigh.
I am so hoping and praying my hubby does not shoot himself in the foot because of this madness. Although, I have to say yesterday, he wanted to chuck it all and go out and get the cheesiest, meaty pizza available but was able to resist and settle for something a little less harmful. I love him so much and I wish I could do something for him. This really sucks.
So, I will let you all know what happens next week, as we left a message for the doctor to call us back with a definite number.
Thanks again everyone
