Hello. I'm New and full of questions!

Hello all! I'm Jamie and I am new here. I've been peeking in at you guys occationaly and thought why not join in? I'm not a big computer buff and have never been in on a computer group but this is different, well, to me it is anyway. I've been looking into having WLS for the past several months. My BIG proplen, other than my but, is that I am on a limited income and I do not have health insurance through my job. SO I will be a self pay....scarey huh? Mybrothers & I inherited some land when my dad died and we are in the process of trying to sell it. Once we do the money will be there for the surgery. As I am a thrifty girl ( cheap if you must) I have been looking at the prospect of having the WLS done in Mexico. I like the thought of the DS. Any and all opinions, advice etc would be apprecieated.

Hello Jamie, Welcome to the SMOers (Super Morbid Obesers). I am deb and I don't answer many posts but couldn't resist. I don't know anything about Mexico but I know that Dr. Titus Duncan did my surgery at Atlanta Medical Center and he is the best (in my book). I am 10 months out and have lost 109 lbs. I had the Roux-N-Y Lap with no complications. Check him out on the OH website. And welcome again to the board. Debra

Hello Debra. 109 lbs!!! Wow!!! That is fantastic! I want my WLS so bad! I have looked at Dr's all over the US. Mexico is the place that costs the least. THat is why I am going to go there. Who & When is the big question. Jamie

I have heard a lot of people say they went to a Dr. Aguirre, and that they really liked him. I'm not sure, but I think he is in Baja (sp?). Welcome to our group Jamie. This is a really great group of people and have tons of answers. I am a pre op, I just had my surgeon consultation yesterday.
