My Pre-Op

hello sister smores, I had my pre-op appointment today. I lost 16 pounds and my BMI is now 57. I was so surprised. I thought maybe I had lost 2 or 3. I had a lot of tests and a lot of info to digest. I guess I will have to take 12 days worth of heparin shots twice a day. Not real happy about that. My surgeon is Dr. Giselle Hamad and she has done 800 of these surgeries. I asked her about blood clots (my big worry).....she says out of 800 patients she has only seen 3 cases of pulmonary embolism....and they were treated and were fine. All in all, I am much more relaxed about the surgery after seeing her today. i asked her if SHE were SMO would she have the surgery and she said "oh yes".....so that made me feel better too. I found out today that some docs dont use the Jackson-Pratt drain........but she does. Its just an extra precaution. I have to do a 2 day bowel prep (what fun!) and be on clear liquids only for the weekend before my monday surgery. I also have to take 2 antibiotics over that weekend. well, thanks for listening! take care willby

Im so happy for you! Your almost there now, and you will do great.. All the testing seems like a real pain, but its all worth it. As for the heprin shots-OUCH! I had to do that too and boy do they get annoying after a couple days.. Again, its so worth it though! Now just try to relax and keep yourself sane (if thats possible****il surgery.. Your already doing great.. Amber

Wow Willby, Look how good your doing already, and that is pre surgery. This is the best thing you will ever do for yourself. The weekend will go by so fast and before you know it "puff" you will be in SMO recovery. Pretty soon you will be smaller then that hershey bar! Keep up the great new attitude. Love, Soos

willby Great news congrats what a super loss.Glad you are more at ease with your upcoming surgery.It sounds like your Doctor is right on top of everything.Love the new picture can I have a bite.I do the fun bowel prep tomorrow and have to work too.It sure should be fun fun fun .then friday is my big day.I go to the hospital today for my pre surgical testing.Best of luck Dawn

Oh Willby...my fellow hershey devotee.... I am so happy and excited for you!! The shots are just one little thing we have to tolerate to get to our goal...
