I have a question for all of you post ops out there who have had the surgery. Did you have someone drive you home? And do you think it would be safe to drive yourself home from the hospital? I am scheduled to have a lap RNY at the end of this month and I live about 40 minutes away from the hospital. Thanks in advance, ~Nonna

Hi Nonna , I had lap RNY in May, and I was in the hospital from Tuesday until Friday with no complications. I would suggest that you have a driver. I only live 5 minutes from the hospital, and I was thankful to have someone drive me... I can't imagine 40 minutes. I think it would be better to have someone to drive you home to be safe. Take Care, Tanja

Hello Nonna, I too think you should have someone drive you home. I could not have been able to drive myself home. I spent two nights in the hospital with no complications. In fact the doctor wouldn't let me drive for a week after surgery. I wish you lots of luck. Take care, Diana 379/205/? starting bmi 62

Thank you Diana, I thought I was set, but plans changed, so my family thinks I already have a ride. I can get one if I ask, I just didn't know if I absolutey HAD to get one or not. Thanks again ~Nonna

Nonna, This is a do as I say not as I do time.... when you leave the hospital you are NOT supposed to drive because you will have been taking narcotics... having said that... my husband doesn't drive and we don't have any family here and there was no way I was asking a friend to take time off work to drive me home so I drove myself home. I live about 35 minutes from the hospital and did fine. However, in all reality, if I would have had an accident, I would have been in big trouble becuase I was te*****ally "under the influence". So, do as I say, not as I did HUGS Patti
