I just got back from my one year surgeons visit. I have lost 196 lbs in the last year. I was 398.9 last year and today I weighed 202.2 lbs. They were pleased at the doctors office. The Exercise therapist told me to make sure I keep up my strength that I should lift some weights if I start to feel weaker over the next year. People who keep their metabolism up are less likely to gain their weight back. The Nutritionist told me to take my b 12 vitamins that would prevent possible nerve damage. I got up early and drove the 88 miles to Downers Grove Illinois and rode my bike on the Illinois Prairie Bike trail before the doctors visit. It was a little bit cool and windy but very pretty out. I only got to ride 20 miles because I did not want to miss my appointment. I asked about what my weight goals should be and he said he was happy where I was. He said people with high bmi's tend to stay heavier. The insurance table said I should weigh 145 lbs. It has been a great year. I feel like the surgery was a real miricale. Next stop onderland then the double century.

Hi John , Congratulations on your great success! I'm glad your doctor's office was pleased, too (they should be - lol). Don't you think insurance tables are a little ridiculous sometimes; I mean come on... 145 pounds?? Great Job!! Take Care, Tanja

Hi John, Congradulations on making it to your 1 year anniversary on the losing side!! I am soooo impressed at your weight-loss. My son (at age 22) had wls on Feb 20, 2004. He has lost over 200 lbs. but he does NOT see the difference. Even though he has gone from a size 66 jeans to a size 44. He has been heavy all his life, and still feels like the "fat kid" I guess it takes time and therapy sometimes to get to know the "real you" under all the fat. I'm no expert by no means..I just got my surgery date...November 23rd. I can't help but be inspired that this surgery really works when I look at my son and all the possitive changes that he has had in his life. Virginia
