Hi Carmella 1. Nope ... never developed the habit 2. Health was so bad, walking was becoming impossible, back is very very bad. 3. A little of both ... I get up earlier and earlier these days, but then don't usually go to bed til midnight. 4. Absolutely! I don't feel like the program I went to did enough. My "adopted-program", the Bariatric physician I see now, has a much more thorough and educating program. 5. I'm a non-decorator if I can get by with it A few ribbons, a wreath on the door, and a lighted ceramic tree on a table ... that's about it. Stopped putting the big tree up when my kids moved out. 6. Nope again I know the decorators here are gonna hate me for that. Myra

Do you feel that there should be mandatory counsling for WLS patients to help them through the changes that will occur in their life? ~A~ No I dont because not everyone will respond to the surgery the same way. Oh Carm, Why do you have to make these so difficult?? I like it when I don't have to hardly think at all - oh well... here goes nothing. 1. Do you watch Soap Opera's, and if so which ones and for how long? Not currently, but have been a fan of "Days of Our Lives" and the former "Santa Barbara" in the past. 2. What happened in your life that made you finally decide that WLS is the only way for you? Basically, I just finally got so fed up with myself - my size and my life, in general, and I just felt really hopeless and wanted to do something about it before it was too late. Also, it was the first time anyone in my family had actually voiced concern about me dying early due to my weight (my dad); that kind of got me too. 3. Are you an early bird or a night owl? Neither, really, but more a night owl than an early bird. Before I started hanging around this board, I would have been content to go to bed at 8pm and not get up until Noon or so; lately I have been staying up much later. 4. Do you feel that there should be mandatory counsling for WLS patients to help them through the changes that will occur in their life? No, not necessarily, but I think a psych. consult in the beginning is a good idea. There are some people who do not have any trouble dealing with these changes, but it would be a good idea for the bariatric dept. to monitor this need as people go in for their post-op visits and then suggest counseling, if need be. 5. How do you decorate for Christmas? Example: Attic to Basement covered in decorations? Tree only? Moderatly decorate. I have two trees - one is about 6 inches tall and the other is about a foot tall. They are pre-decorated with glitter and little red balls and stuff. I really can't and don't decorate too much because of the cats. They get into everything! If I had a real tree, they would have it down within minutes and be using the ornaments as toys. It's okay, though, because there are always decorations at my parent's house and pretty much everywhere else I go. 6. And do you decorate your outside house for Christmas? Nope, not really too much. Last year I hung a lame little Christmas chalk board from the mail box and counted down the days to Christmas. Tanja

1. Do you watch Soap Opera's, and if so which ones and for how long? Yes I do I watch all of the ones on CBS...however Guiding Light is my VERY fav and I've been watching since 8th grade. I don'****ch As the World Turns much anymore. 2. What happened in your life that made you finally decide that WLS is the only way for you? Disappointment after Disappointment where diets were concerned. I was tired of hearing you have such a pretty face BUT....and I was tired of trying everything and having people say don't worry some people are just meant to be heavier. I guess I am just tired of being TIRED!! 3. Are you an early bird or a night owl? NIGHT OWL..my husband gets onto me for it. I sit up at night and watch TV Land or Nick at Night ...it's my time. I can sit and watch and giggle and NO ONE bugs me!! 4. Do you feel that there should be mandatory counsling for WLS patients to help them through the changes that will occur in their life? YES YES YES 5. How do you decorate for Christmas? Example: Attic to Basement covered in decorations? Tree only? Moderatly decorate. I used to decorate alot. The tree, the lights everything but since living here we just put up a tree. Last year we couldn't even find a tree they were completely sold out on the whole island. People were paying hundreds of dollars to have them flown in..sooo..we went to Wally and got a remote control tree and that was a big low point for me because at home we cut our own and do the carols and all that...it was very depressing..BUT the kids loved it. Every morning I'd wake up to my tree at a different height...

Oh shoot! I missed one! 4. Counseling shouldn't be manadatory, but should be available for those who need or want it. However, I feel that EVERYONE should have a psych eval before surgery!

Here we go, my first time answering the 5 questions. 1. Do you watch Soap Opera's, and if so which ones and for how long? ~I don'****ch them anymore. I used to (when I was a teennager) watch All My Children, One Life To Live and General Hospital. I have found that between working my jobs and taking care of my family, I have enough real drama in my life 2. What happened in your life that made you finally decide that WLS is the only way for you? ~ My declining health. 3. Are you an early bird or a night owl? ~ I'm an early bird. I love to get up before everyone else so I can have some ME time. 4. Do you feel that there should be mandatory counsling for WLS patients to help them through the changes that will occur in their life? ~Definately. I thought it was ridiculous when I found out I needed it before I could have surgery, but once I started going, I found it really did help. I especially got a lot out of the nutrition counsleing. 5. How do you decorate for Christmas? Example: Attic to Basement covered in decorations? Tree only? Moderatly decorate. ~Tree and a few various decorations throughout the house. I keep my manger up all year. If I had my way, I would keep my tree up throughout the year and decorate it for each holiday. Unfortunatelly, my house is too small and my husband too stuborn. 6. And do you decorate your outside house for Christmas? ~We used to decorate a little outside when our children were younger. We don't anymore. Well, that's all of them! Brenda
