FINALLY Home from the hospital!!!!
I'm here, I'm here!!! I got home late yesterday afternoon after a very bumpy ride!!!
Had my RNY as sched on 10/13 (7:30 pm thank you), got released 10/16. Twelve hours later back to ER in severe abdominal pain. Turned out I had fluid backing up into my old stomach. Surgeon said if I had waited much longer to come in, I probably would have burst the suture line and may have even died! So they inserted a drain and observed for a few days, but by the end of that week I had to have a second surgery. I had developed strictures down at the outlet of that old stomach, and he went in and cleared everything up. So 2 surgeries in 2 weeks, 13 days later, I finally got released yesterday!!! Wooo Hooooo!!! There is no place like home LOL. I still have that drain in but see the surgeon this Wed, and we'll see what he says.
And then in the middle of all that - the hurricane hit!! I was on the 7th floor of an 8 floor hospital - right on the water! The building was swaying!! It was pretty wild.
So it's been quite a journey thus far - I am thankful to be home and on the mend and so blessed to have God guide me through this. I had two different nurses who had the RNY, one had had similar complications and multiple surgeries, he was extremely comforting to me and the other was also so helpful in the rough times. I'm still trying to get tape residue off my hands and arms - someone should create something for this - Lord what a mission!!
I hope all is well with all of you, it's good to be back. So many times I sat in there thinking if I could go online for just a few minutes a day to OH I could have been even more encouraged!!!
Much love, Carol V
Oh Carol!
You sure had a tuff time of it. I'm sorry that everything didn't go as smoothly as you had hoped. Wasn't planning on 2 surgeries huh???? Wow, the hurricane hit while you were on the 7th floor???? You have been through it all. Are you glad yet that you had the surgery????Don't try to spare us pre-ops. We can take it!! I'm so glad you had the support of those nurses...and now WE will take over...in the encouragement department that is!
(((((((((((Carol))))))))))))) Take care,
Virginia
Thank you for the kind words!!! Yes, I'm still glad I did it, because I knew all throughout it, that I'd make it if I just held onto my Faith. By the time the surgeon told me about the need for the 2nd surgery - I knew already he was going to go there so I was a little prepared. And luckily that 2nd time I spent NO time in ICU and everything was much easier. It actually just hit me today that now I can really focus on the weight loss and the future. I'll be 100% happier once I get the all clear and get this last drain out, but I know in my heart it'll happen and soon!
Thanks again! Carol V
BLESS YOUR HEART CAROL, MAN WHAT A RIDE FOR SURE. I GUESS THAT DEVIL FOLLOWED YOU RIGHT ON UP IN THE HOSPITAL. BUT AT THE END, YOU SHOWED HIM WHO WAS BOSS. LOL I AM GLAD TO HEAR YOU ARE SO MUCH BETTER. AND JEEZ, NEVER CAN PREDICT WHAT THE WEATHER WILL DO FOR SURE. I LIVE IN THE SOUTH TO AND KNOW TO WELL WHAT ITS LIKE. SO HANG IN THERE AND KEEP POSTING YOUR UNDATES. GLAD YOUR DOING WELL.
HUGS MARGARET
Carol,
Welcome back! God bless you. You have had it rough.
I bet that was scary with the building swaying. How is your home and your family doing after Wilma? I truly feel for you guys and know what you are going thru. I hope this journey is more blessed now and less stressed and you have happier healthy days.
