Hi Gloria, You are definitely not alone in the high BMI category; I'm glad you found this board when you did (before your surgery). There are so many people here with high BMIs that have gone through surgery successfully. You will be one of them, too. It's only natural to be afraid before a major operation, especially when you have the health issues that you mentioned. You obviously had a bad experience with the band, but try to trust that this will turn out differently. You said you have a very good surgeon and you can tolerate anesthesia - those are two very big things. I know it's hard, and it's all scary, but try to remain positive. You will be in my thoughts, and I hope you will come back to the board and share any time you feel like it. There are many wonderful, supportive people here. Take Care, Tanja

Gloria, So glad you found us, this is the place to be for all the love and support you could ever want. WLS is a scary thing, I am also pre-op and dont have a date yet but the closer I get the more scared I am. It is going to be ok, I have heard so many success stories on here, these people are all an inspiration. Finding a GREAT surgeon that is well experienced in this type of surgery is a big deal, so it sounds like you will be in good hands. We are all here for you and we will be waiting to welcome you to the losing side! ((((HUGS)))) Karyn

DONT WORRY!!!! I had a BMI of 64.5 when I went into surgery on September 30th. I promise it is scary but when you wake up you will feel a huge weight off of your shoulders. I was lucky I had my husband telling me about 50 times a day, from work, at home, by email , by voicemail... WHY THE HECK I WAS DOING THIS... AGAIN! I promise it will be worth it ... Im not going to lie it is VERY hard the first 3 weeks... but when you see 35 llbs gone in only 4 weeks youll be like HOLY COW!!!! When your pants start feeling looser. When you arent as concerned that you might have to sit in a booth, ariplane etc. IT WILL BE WORTH IT!!! YOUR HEALTH ... is top priority.. and you want to be healthy for years to come... see you children grandchildren etc grow up and play with them while they DO! GOOD LUCK GIRL ... Ill be thinking about you and Ill be talkin to you again before you know it!!! Steph
