Okay, I know I'm supposed to be on liquids/puree's for 6 weeks and everyone says they use a ton of broth but I can't find any that aren't LOADED with sodium. Do you water it down?? My angel has been wonderful telling me somethings she tried and I bought a cookbook for gastric bypass patients. I still don't have a date but I want to be prepared for SUCCESS!! Anyone have any advice/tips on the sodium levels?? Thanks in advance, Jamie

Jamie, One thing you have to remember is that you wont be eating/drinking a normal serving after surgery. Your intake will be much smaller. So when you look at the amount of things you have to remember just how much or little you will actually be taking in. If a serving size is 8oz- then you have to figure out YOUR serving size and the nutritional info.. Every surgeon and nut is different. Mine wasnt overly concerned about sodium- I just had to watch the fat. Now I have to things more closely but for the first few weeks they werent too concerned about anything other then water, protein, and vitamins. You might want to meet with your nut and discuss these things. They may have some great suggestions for you.. Amber

Jamie, there is sodium-free broth available at our Albertsons in the specail diet section. Ofcourse you might want to try making your own... get a boiling chicken or turkey and cover it with water and ... instant broth after about 6 hours! ha ha ha - instant!!!! ~*~ Pam

Jamie, I used a ton of low sodium broth in my weight loss surgery soup recipes, but, I didn't care to drink the stuff. It is yucky to me, with or without sodium to drink straight. The soups can be a real life saver though. Lori 384/282/170
