Hello Everybody! It's been awhile since I have posted. Just wanted to let you know that I am three weeks post-op this Monday; I had to stay seven days in the hospital and have a second surgery (I explain about it in my profile so I won't bore you here with the details.) I gained 20 pounds in the hospital from fluid! They now have me back on my water pills and the water is coming off! Thank the Lord! I am down -24.4 pounds and -44.4 counting the water!!!!!! I am walking with my walker six times a day for five minutes each time to get in my 30 minutes a day. I am getting in all my protein and liquids. PTL! But I am so happy that the water retention is getting less and less. (The lymphedema in my legs made it worse.) Just wanted to update ya' all! God bless! Cindy

Cindy, wow it must have been so unfomfortable having to have so much waterweight. but boy does that weight loss look extra good!!! Glad you are getting in your walking - it will most likely be how I will have to do it, as I am in a wheelchair now. Glad to see you are on the road to recovery! Oh and to the loosing side of life now! ~*~ Pam

Hi Pam! Thanks for the encouraging words! I am feeling sooooo much better! I am able to walk around the house without my walker now!!! I am only using my walker when I do my five minute walks. This is happening soooo fast! Thank The Lord! I know you'll do great too! Cindy

Cindy - God Bless you!!!! Thank God you are home and doing better. I just read your profile and I admire your strength and Faith in God. That is what got me through, and still, for every day of my life. I too had to have a second surgery, and was in the hospital a total of 13 nights. I just got home last Friday! I too had fits with the bariatric bed! The bariatirc coordiator at the hospital was so proud of the bed - but every patient that has used it so far has reported back to her that it was a nightmare! When I got readmitted I had a regular bed, and did SO much better. My complication was that there was blockage at the bottom of the "old" stomach, and my stomach filled with fluid. The 2nd surgery was to fix that and the surgeon later told me I had developed adhesions too, which was blocking the flow. I came home with a drain from that old stomach, and he turned it off on Wed of this week. So far so good, I don't think anything is backing up, I have no pain and even the home heath nurse who comes every day, told me everything felt fine on my abdomen! So, I have an appt 7am Mon at the hospital for radiology, will probably have a CT scan to make sure - and then get this last drain out! What a relief that will be! I also felt that all my moving around that last night in the hospital - fussing with that bed - and twisting and turning trying to get in it, and comfortable - caused my problem, but the surgeon didn't feel that was it. I still wonder tho - I was a mad woman trying to relieve the pain that night, but will never know, at least I seem to be out of the woods now. So - we've been through the wringer but we made it!!! I'm so glad to hear you are home and walking around and getting rid of that fluid! May God continue to bless you and guide you through this! Keep us posted! Much love - Carol V

Thank you, Carol, for the encouragement and kind words! What and Where would we be without our Lord?!!! Yes, He helped me through it all! Boy, I can't believe how much our hospital stays were alike!!!! I am so glad that they got you all fixed up and that everything is working well! PTL! I will pray for your appt on Monday morning, too. And yes, you will feel great when that drain is out!!!! Thanks again for your kindness and encouragement! Please keep in touch! Love, Cindy

Dear Cynthia, I am so glad to hear that youre home and recuperating. I gained 10 pounds of fluid in the hospital. My ID bracelet got so tight they had to remove it and make it bigger. Sounds like youre right on track with your protein and exercising. GOOD LUCK! take care willby

Hi Sandra! It was good to hear from you! That is wonderful that your lymphedema is getting so much better. I believe mine will too! Oh, I hated that bariatric bed in the hospital!!!! I wonder why they think they would work? Maybe for lightweights, but I was having to try to pull my 450+ body into it. I called it the "bed of horrors"! Keep in touch! Love, Cindy

You're not alone in the hospital weight gain. I spent 5 days in the hospital and gained close to 15. Its day 9 now, and my tummy is still pretty swollen, so much I can't fit into my undies. And I am still weigh more than I did pre-op, but I can already see a slight change in my face so I know it's coming off, the number on the scale is jus****er weight and from the hematoma that developed. I have faith that it will get better though, and I truly believe there is a reason for all things. Sending you prayers and good thoughts, ~Nonna

Nonna, That's great that you can tell a difference already in your face! You're right, it will come off! In my case, I had to have help with water pills, though. But it's coming off! Thank The Lord! That sounds awful about having had a hematoma too! But, you're right, it will get better! Thanks & Keep in touch! Love, Cindy
