Sunday's Food for Thought!!!!!

Okay everyone................... I can see that since I've been sooooooooo busy with ME these past few days, someone has been slacking on the food post!!!! So here goes for me for today. I knew I would be going to the movies, so I didn't eat breakfast B~~sm cup of coffee with Splenda/cream L~~1/2 cup movie popcorn D~~We went out to Cheddars and I ordered an 8oz sirloin, potatoe, and a side. I managed to eat 1/2 of my steak, about 3 bites of the insides of my baked potatoe and gave my broccoli/cheese cassarole to hubby. Brought the rest home for lunch at work tomorrow. Took my vitamins, and I'm working on my fluid. About 25oz of koolaid right now. Hopefully I can get some water in yet tonight. Not too much food today, but I'm trying guys. Ive been half hoping this wouldnt get posted all weekend since Ive screwed up majorly! I didnt follow the rules so well this weekend and I know it.. Ohh well, this is to keep me honest - not just with you but with myself.. b- cheese stick and hard boiled egg s- cheese stick & 1/4 cup of cheez-its l- chicken thigh & 3 bites of corn s- s/f cookie with s/f ice cream s- 1/4 cup for pretzels d- green salad s- popcorn Ive only had about 15oz of water today.. no protein drinks at all.. no fruit or juice.. I took my multivitamin but nothing else.. and Ive pretty much grazed all day... BAD!! BAD!! BAD!! But tomorrow starts a new week and I will do better!!!

ok have never done this before so hold on I might not get it right B- none s-none L-pizza pockets (not a good choice I know ) S- none D- steak taco from taco bell I dont know what to do I cant eat all that I need to I know thats why I am not lossing right now I guess but dang down 89lbs in a little over 2 months is not bad still lossing in. so thats a good thing any one want to help me eat better give me a yell I need a food buddy that would be a good thing to start with this some one to yell at you for not eatting right Love you guys shelley

Shelley: This is excatly why I started this thread. We will be doing this post EVERY night. To make you accountable for what your eating and to help you come up with new ideas and help. You know as well as I do you had a bad day today. Tomorrow is a new day and it will be a better food choice for you. I just got off a 5 week plateau, so I understand about the slow losing. I added breakfast and I'm making myself eat more often now and the scale went down 10 pounds this week. You need to eat more. NO pizza pockets. Try to concentrate on your protien and get your fluids in. I hope this helps. Have a better day tomorrow. Shelley! There you are again ! Woo woo. I just answered your other post...Okay.. healthy protein ideas. Cheese Slices.. sliced.. has 4-6 grams a slice. Lean meat high in Protein. Protein Bars.. look for low carbs, low or zero sugar. Some good carb bars are the "Advant Edge Protein Bars" sold at Walmart or Sams Club. Protein bars are usually from about 15 to 22 grams protein.... some are as high at 30 grams but normally have more sugar if that high (no so good). Protein Drink - I drink a quart of skim milk (over about 2 hours) with two or three scoops of Whey (as I think the SOY protein drinks.. myself.. are icky they are good for 20-40 grams of protein.... depending on how much I add. Yogurt.. look for low SUGAR.. I try to get 5 to 9 grams... in New JERSEY we are stuck with about 14 grams (at Stop and Shop). In Iowa I had 5 grams... low sugar and THEN low Fat. Or Yogurt flavored with splenda is even better. I like berry flavors.. ANY berry flavor Yogurt is normally like 6-12 grams protein per container. Meatballs. Like italian meatballs in a bag... pre frozen, often pre cooked. Good to take 3 or 4 meatballs at a time, nuke em with some low sugar ragu or even alone (sauce as you can tolerate it). Good for 10-20 grams normally. Cold Cuts especially Turkey products Good for about 5-6 grams a SLICE. Good Rule for first six months? DONT eat anything that is not protein related. NADA. Hey at ten months I still dont eat carbs (that means .. I scrape off pizza... no crust, and I dont eat bread) I used to LOVE lasagna.. and bread. Later you can try certain protein added pasta... or bagels... or bread in low amounts but in first six months you are SOO much more successful if you focus on protein protein protein.. first. : ) Ya know? Other stuff to remember.. DONT drink when you eat for 1/2 hour. Dont EAT without waiting at least ten minutes DONT drink with your meal. Shelley, I ate a lot of really small shredded lettuce (be CAREFUL.. different people relate to different stuff like lettuce... ask your surgeon FIRST) with LOTS of cheese and meatballs when I first got here.. but I tolerated lettuce Some people dont tolerate lettuce. The first 4 months I LITERALLY lived on Whey Protein Drinks... Advant Edge Whey protein (20 grams a scoop) mixed with milk. Sold at Walmart. (Purple label) I had 3 quarts of milk a day.. sipping all day... with 2 scoops in each.. 40 grams (2 - 20 gram scoops) x 2 or 3 quarts = 80- 100 grams protein a day. It was not until I moved to NJ and was TAUGHT by my wife (also a WLS patient March 2004) who has lost 150 pounds, that you CAN get all your protein by food. Dont worry if you dont get it all at once... just work slowly to try to eat many small meals with at least 15 grams each : ) You should eat mini meals... 5-7 a day. You should eat every couple hours. You should drink drink drink when you can.. LIQUID and keeping hydrated is HUGE to losing.. more than you would think. Think of it this way.. okay? IF you aim for 15 grams a meal....and have five meals.. you have really close to the 80 grams a day. If you dont accept less than 15 grams per meal, and eat five small meals.. thats 75 grams.. right there : ) Not as daunting that way .. eh? 15 grams is... Two yogurts (sometimes only one if you cant tolerate that much.. then eat one then another an hour later..) 4 pieces of flat beef jerky. 4 low fat pepperoni sticks 4 meatballs. 1 small piece of cooked meat (beef, chicken, pork) 3 slices of most types lunchmeat/deli meat cold cut types. 1 protein drink with one scoop of whey protein (20 grams) 4 slices most cheese (slices that are 3 or 4 inches square) YOU can do this. Reach out.. ask ask ask questions. Trust me.. your tastes change, and it gets easier. A typical day for me: (I am at ten months out and can eat a little more) 7am - 9am 1- First meal Quart of milk with two scoops protein drink 40 grams sometimes only one scoop protein.... takes me about an hour to slowly sip the drink.. I am a simple guy.. I only like chocolate Advant Edge : ) Whey Protein. Walmart. Purple label. 930 am half hour after finishing the protein drink (I wait a half hour because if you drink too SOON.... even after protein drink you just WASH the food down without any benefit) I grab a **purple water Purple Water : ))) the secret receipe : -One Walmart Clearly American Flavored water.. White Grape flavor works best Remove the carbonation.... carbonated with the carbon bubbles removed (shake in a gallon jug or use blender to get the bubbles out... -1 or 2 oz grape concentrated juice mix well... keep cold in fridge till you drink = Purple water. Sounds nutty but I drink these things ALOT ; ) oR A regular plain tap water... my wife likes bottled water or spring water.. most of all DRINK water whenever you can. However she loves purple water too : ) (slow to tumble but a convert she is she is : ))) It takes me about an hour to drain a quart of "purple water " or tap water. I dont hurry... I take a bottle of water of some type everywhere I go during the day when not eating and sip sip sip. 2- About 11am or so (at least ten minutes, normally 1/2 hour) after drinking... Two yogurts (14 grams about) Takes me about 1/2 hour to eat them... About 1230 pm or so another Quart of water. 3- About 2pm or so. Protein bar (22 grams) w/t a yogurt (because I am a stubborn redneck and eating a protein bar without any thing else is DRY man... just dang dry : P (about 30 grams total bar plus yogurt) 3pm or so Another quart of water. Sip. Takes about an hour or two... no more than 2 or 3 swallows at a time 5 About 5pm DINNER... meatballs..3 or 4... or diced lunchmeat and shredded cheese over some really finely shredded lettuce, or a piece of lean ground beef, or a lean pork chop... (you get the idea.. PROTEIN based.. dinner type meal). About 6pm or so.. another quart of water if I can sometimes I feel waterlogged : P 6 - about 7pm or so... a protein bar OR 4 pieces of beef jerky OR 4 slices cheese (or whatever I feel like ) about 9pm Another quart of water if I can tolerate it.. like I said sometimes you start to feel like your floating. 7 - about 10pm last meal... a yogurt, or two... beef jerky,... cheese or meat.. whatever I havent had yet that day. 40 protein drink 14 grams yogurt 22 grams protein bar 8 grams yogurt dinner of about 15 grams night snack about 15 grams last meal about 10-15 grams Thats over 100 grams of protein.. I average at least 80-90. I havent lost any hair due to protein loss... and while the AMOUNTS each meal are a little higher because I am further out... at least you get the idea; Hugs hang in there Timmy Ray

I love this thread it is much more fun to post oh here when you have been good and it is excellent for when you have been bad because not only do you know so does everybody else! B- protein shake S- 1/4c fruit mix and 1/4c cottage cheese L- chicken salad on one slice of low carb bread S-min Reese's cup I know bad but I still have a problem throwing food away I want to keep everything if I can't eat it at meal then I am constantly saving leftovers. D-South Beach Diet Dinner Entre Asian noodle with cashews and snow peas lots of chicken it proably enough for 2 meals and snack. S-More of my yummy dinner! I have had about 20 ozs of water need more water
