I spoke to my anesthesiologist(had to consult for surgical approval) and he told me that when people are over a certain weight and have issues with their airway they will do the intubation while they are awake because their airway wouldn't be protected otherwise.

Lucky you Willby. The sore throat was the worst part of my whole experience. They wouldn't let me drink anything for 1 and 1/2 days until my swallow test. My throat hurt so bad. I thought I was gonna die...not really, but, I could barely talk. Lori 384/274/170
