I have a question
Is this board for people who are currently at a BMI over 50 or for those who were over 50 before they lost weight? My original BMI was actually over 70 and is now around 27. I have been told that I am actually at goal until I have the excess skin removed. I feel great and thought that I would pop over here and see if there were any other people here in my boat. I didn't even know this board was here until today. I see so many people on the regular board who are at BMI's of 21 and 22 and wonder what is wrong with me and then look up their profiles and realize that their original BMI was around the 40 mark. Does this make a difference? I don't know. Other than that, I feel great! I run and play with my kids and could not be happier. So many of the regular board members don't seem to be able to relate to issues that have affected me. You have to reach a certain size before you encounter some things in life. Trust me, I was there. If I can be of any help or encouragement to any of you let me know. I can't tell you the difference that I have made in my life. I would not blink an eye to do it over. I only wish I had done it 20 years ago. Thanks for letting me run on. Luv, Crissie
WELCOME CRISSIE!! I am pre-op waiting on my surgery date and I think having people here who've had surgery and are at goal or close to it is wonderful. All of us pre-ops can pick your brain. We have some pre-ops and some post -ops...so please come and join us.
This is a really great board for advice and support and just plain talking about things that NO ONE else would ever understand except another moribidly (or former morbidly) obese person.
Looking forward to getting to know you...
Jamie
Crissie,
We welcome anyone that can help give support to pre ops and post ops! I am still pre-op but very close to getting my surgery date. I think that you could offer a lot of insight, help, and support to all of us so please do join us. This group is a fun loving friendly bunch with great big hearts and lots of

. Congratulations on your success and your new life!(((HUGS))))

Crystal,
This site is for both. There are a few like you who are at their goal now, some like me who are working on it and many who are pre-ops. What we have in common is that we all know what it is like to live with a BMI over 50. I started with a BMI of 57, it is now 41, it feels unreal! But, to go from a BMI of over 70 to a BMI of 27, wow what an incredible accomplishment!
You are very welcome here!

Hi Crissie,
This board is for everyone who knows what it is like to live in a body that is a prison of a BMI over 50. Im no longer a SMO and nobody kicked me out yet. We will always be SMO's in our heads. No matter how much weight we lose, we walked the walk and talked the talk, so we come here and relate. Welcome aboard.
Hugs,
Soos
welcome to the board, crissie. we can use all the experience available. i'm at about nine months out and i'm going through the 'every one who had surgery when i did is reaching goal weight and here am i - looking to lose another 100 lbs (at least)' stage.
i wish i had done it sooner, too. sounds like we already have mu*****ommon. hope we hear from you again soon.

Welcome to the best board on OH Crissie!
Pre-op or post-op... all that matters is that you were at one point at a bmi of 50 or higher, and know what it is to be SMO. Just jump right in.
I do think there is a big difference between those who started with a bmi of 40 and those who are over 50. We have so many more obstacles and issues they have never encountered.
Huggs,
Ruth
