Hi Everyone, I hope you are all doing well and having a great day. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their congrats on my approval and their advice on the dreaded smoking. The board was acting crazy, so I just thought it would be easier to post one reply than it would be to try to get the darn thing to work for individual replies. Sorry about that. The nutritionist from Henry Ford sent me a diet plan to lose the thirty pounds I need to lose before surgery, but it is simply indesipherable. It is a fact sheet listing the values of nutrients, and while that is certainly helpful, it really doesn't tell me what to eat, LOL. I know it is strange to have been on the planet for 37 years and not know what to eat, but I am really at a loss. I guess if I was good at this, I would not be 374 pounds. I have to be careful not to lose too much too fast because of my gallbladder, so I really want to do this carefully, but I want to actually lose some weight, LOL. My surgeon is said to be very strict, and if I do not lose the weight, he will not schedule the surgery. My approval from OHIP is only good for six months, so I have to get my ****ogether shortly. This is hard, but I believe it is so worth it. I want so much to be able to make the commitment to myself to do what I need to do to have this surgery. I am glad this board and all of you are here because this is a tough journey. Take gentle care.

Shelley, I think the "South Beach Diet" or Weigh****chers are the best diets. They emphasize low fat proteins and high fiber carbs. You will basically be eating that way the rest of your life. It is good to start now. That is what I did and it really helped me. I had to lose 20 lbs prior to surgery. Lori 384/274/170
